Job Summary

The role of the Director, IT is responsible for overseeing and directing; the solution portfolio within Belk IT systems, IT’s business facing relationships with the partners that use these applications, and the staff responsible for supporting, enhancing, and developing solutions related. The director facilitates prioritization of requests from business partners, rationalization of these requests against IT resources, and determination of best means of automating business processes, and developing solutions. The director provides leadership in determining the project-based information needs of the company along with the best approach for the processing, delivery, and analysis of this information. The director leads a staff of Delivery Managers, Software Developers, Business Analysts, Systems Analysts, QA/Testing Analysts and/or Systems Architects and coordinates the team’s interaction with third party service providers. The director is responsible for managing the preparation and timely delivery of quality deliverables related to supporting, maintaining, enhancing, and monitoring information systems. This individual is responsible for overseeing staff development. This includes performance appraisal, salary administration, assisting in career development and counseling, and ensuring meaningful assignments and opportunities for staff growth. The director role is one that requires team leadership, business acumen, professional bearing, systems knowledge, and strong relationship management skills with users and third party service providers.

  • Responsible for managing and overseeing the architecture, development, and delivery of eCommerce digital application portfolio.
  • Strategic thinker who can collaborate with Business and IT Leadership team to develop multi-year digital road map to achieve company’s goals.
  • Collaborate and build strong relationships with Business Partners, Cross-functional teams, and Vendor Partners.
  • Responsible for understanding the business needs, help with prioritization and delivery of the project initiatives and ensure that overall business objectives are met.
  • Collaborate with project teams to design and deliver high quality applications that are extensible, scalable, and performant.
  • Responsible for planning and supporting peak customer transactional load during Holiday by ensuring stability and smooth operation of all digital systems and vendor readiness.
  • Communicate delivery expectations to team members. Assess individual contributions and provide consistent and clear feedback on performance to the team against goals and objectives.
  • Mentor and advise teams on latest technology trends. Recommend improvements to processes and technology that improve the effectiveness of the team.

Minimum Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Business Administration, Computer Science, or other relative Technical Degree.
  • 12 years’ experience working in Information Technology or related field
  • 7 years’ experience in developing, implementing, and supporting large scale eCommerce platforms and mobile applications.
  • 5 years’ experience in managing and leading technology teams.
  • Experience or familiarity with technologies and best practices in areas such as Digital Commerce, Search, Customer experience, Web Content Management, CRM, Marketing, Merchandising and Pricing systems, Order Management Systems, Mobile Solutions, Payment gateways, Caching and Content delivery networks.
  • Experienced in implementations with micro- services architecture, API Management, REST services, Cloud-based solutions, MuleSoft and other middleware technologies.
  • Experienced in leading and managing multiple project initiatives and delivering results in fast paced environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate and present technical information in a concise manner to business stakeholders.
  • Experience building, mentoring, and managing highly effective delivery teams.
  • Experience in building relationships with third party vendors, developing and managing project budgets, cost plans.
