Role Summary

The Enterprise Planning and Analysis team Director of Finance role focuses on Free Cash Flow Management, Performance Benchmarkingm, and long-term financial scenario analysis.This is a critical role that works closely with finance leadership, business operations teams, and other key boundary partners. This role involves significant exposure to senior finance and client leaders across the business, and regular interaction with the parent company Cox Enterprises (CEI). 

 

There are several critical responsibilities for this role.  This role provides leadership of the annual Free Cash Flow budget and alignment with parent company (CEI) inputs.  Included in this critical task is overseeing Working Capital performance and identifying performance improvement opportunities for the company.  This role also oversees the benchmarking of company performance against peer and competitive companies.  This includes both summarizing quarterly performance and leading critical analysis to understand underlying drivers of performance variations and potential areas for improvement.  This role also spearheads efforts to frame long-term (10-year) financial scenarios in partnership with business operations and strategy.  Included in this activity is managing long-term financial ambition views based on organic/core and in-organic/M&A options.  The position also plays a key role in supporting investor relations activities of CEI as they arise (Rating agency reviews, Bond offerings, etc.).

 

This is a key role that enables the right leader to stretch their finance skills and engage across multiple disciplines including business operations, M&A, strategy, supply chain and other key functions. The role leads a total team of 5 full time employees today.

 

Additional Responsibilities and Essential Functions

 Performs financial analysis, modeling and reporting – Conduct and oversee a team who complete complex analyses, provide strategic financial forecasting/analyses, and report month end/plan results to multiple levels of leadership.  Create, maintain, and update financials in support of month end reporting, R&O monthly updates, and forecasts/budgets.

 Provide financial and operational consultative services through collaborative partnerships – Conduct, and/or direct a team of managers and/or analysts who recommends and facilitates changes; analyzes and reviews data and resolves questions and/or problems.  Assists in policy development to support change initiatives.  Ability to influence cross-functional and enterprise-wide with limited support from their leader.  Oversee multiple clients, processes, projects, etc.

 Monitor and optimize business processes – Conduct, and/or direct a team of managers and/or analysts who provides and reviews data to ensure both compliance and effectiveness of complex operational and financial processes, identifying anomalies and making recommendations.  Understands the enterprise impact of decisions from their department.

 Project Management – Conduct, and/or direct a team of managers and/or analysts who lead cross functional teams to define, assign, monitor and complete project objectives. 

 Leadership – Builds team of managers and financial analysts through recruiting, selection, developing, coaching and performance management.  Manage a team of 6 including Sr. Manager, Manager, and 4 financial analysts.

 

Strong Communication – Expected to work with SVP, and VP levels to develop, review, and present recommendations in easily digestible formats.

Qualifications:

Minimum

10+ years of experience required in related field (Finance, Accounting, Business, etc.).

Proficient in understanding Microsoft product and other tools capabilities.

Excellent interpersonal, leadership, presentation and collaborative skills to work effectively with teams throughout the organization.

Strong Communication/Executive Presence

Strong Project Management

Critical thinking and guidance for teams performing advanced modeling.

Proactive opportunity and risk identification from financial analysis, and risk remediation through matrix partnerships

Extremely proficient in Excel and other financial tools

Build and present PPT presentation to Senior Leadership

Industry and Company perspective.  Understands how business decisions impact other parts of the organization

Strong executive presence, drives results through matrix environment

Requires strong knowledge of Financial modeling and data analysis

 

Preferred

BS/BA in related discipline highly desired (Finance, Accounting, Business, etc.)

MBA or related advanced degree preferred

5 or more years of experience in a management role.

Experience in telecommunications industry.
