Job Description

Mercury Marine’s eSolutions will be responsible for evaluating, planning, and executing Mercury’s electrification portfolio. The eSolutions Director of Strategy will drive critical business analysis on marine electrification strategic initiatives, competitive strategy, partnership strategy, product strategy, parent product pricing, and distribution strategy) Develop and implement Mercury’s electrification strategy and complimentary opportunities space. Leading partnership, JV and M&A related processes focused on new growth avenues.

The eSolutions Director of Strategy role is primarily in Fond Du Lac, Wi; however, the opportunity is open to remote and hybrid work arrangements, with travel to Fond Du Lac, WI as needed.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Lead analysis on critical to success marine electrification strategic initiatives (competitive strategy, partnership strategy, product strategy, parent product pricing, and distribution strategy)
  • Develop and implement electrification strategy and complimentary opportunities space for Mercury
  • Lead partnership, JV and M&A related processes focused on new growth avenues, related to electric propulsion, including motors, inverters, power distribution, DC-DC converters, On-board chargers, etc.
  • Guide team through evaluation of new technology assessments and recommendations.
  • Support new product development and design change initiatives driven by market demand, government regulations and/or cost reduction activity
  • Support current product efforts to include forecasting / inventory management, market positioning and quality efforts.
  • Facilitate business case/charter development for new product programs and provide direction for the development and growth of the category
  • Help with the development, planning and implementation of product plans
  • Analyze competitive research and trends to guide category strategy and programs relative to product and program innovation
  • Support cost reduction, quality improvement and Voice of Customer ()VOC) projects to drive product plan initiatives
  • Collaborate with internal Product Development & Engineering ( PD&E) staff, marketing and sales leaders, dealers, customers and external strategic business partners to develop product strategies and plans
  • Present category strategic initiatives to senior leadership and program teams
  • Lead and influence cross-functional teams on strategic category issues, processes and initiatives

Knowledge, Skill and Ability Requirements

  • Proven leadership ability and interpersonal skills
  • Verbal and written skills necessary to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization
  • Ability to summarize details and present recommendations to senior management
  • Organizational skills necessary to successfully manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Excellent quantitative/qualitative skills; high agility in performing quantitative analysis as well as using strategic frameworks.
  • Ability to support and lead project teams, work cross-functionally and think both critically and strategically.

Experience Requirements and Education

Minimum Requirements

  • BS/BA degree in Business or a Technical field or equivalent experience
  • 7 years of relevant experience
  • Familiarity of propulsion systems
  • The candidate must have a track record of outstanding success relative to peers and should have demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Experience using strategic frameworks and analysis, and in modeling abstract and ambiguous business problems.

Preferred Requirements

  • MBA
  • 10+ years of relevant work experience
  • 2 years previous work experience in propulsion systems space including strong knowledge of motors, inverters, power distribution systems, DC-DC converters, and on-board chargers
  • In depth knowledge of internal combustion engines
