Brings Artificial Intelligence (AI) models from research to production — deploying real-time neural network-based natural language processing AI models, and owning the success of AI-powered products and applications. Programs in Python, PyTorch, Transformers, Containerization, and Docker. Leads Machine Learning (ML) approaches for multiple projects with diverse scope and complex business and technical challenges across several business units and functions. Consults with senior level business and technology partners to identify priorities and establish analytic goals. Oversees the translation of use cases to AI/ML/analytics agenda including data, algorithm, and validation strategy. Draws on in-depth knowledge of the business or function to provide business unit-wide solutions.

Primary Responsibilities:

•           Sets the strategic direction for data identification, collection, and qualification activities.

•           Partners with industry experts to identify new data science models used across production systems.

•           Presents reports and findings to senior level technical and non-technical audiences.

•           Evaluates and tunes performance, operationalization, and scalability of scientific techniques.

•           Establishes decision strategies.

•           Combines AI/ML and open-source technologies with building algorithms, models, and programming to manage and deliver critical updates and programs.

•           Develops supervised and unsupervised machine learning algorithms — regression, decision trees/random forest, neural networks, feature selection/reduction, clustering, and parameter tuning.

•           Sets direction on data modeling approaches, model governance, Agile practices, and influences multiple domain areas and organizations.

•           Works in the Cloud (AWS) and with Kubernetes to automate management of the data.

•           Partners with business stakeholders to identify and prioritize top AI opportunities, create business technical requirements, and transform large volumes of data into AI-driven solutions using creative, cutting edge open-source methods and technologies.

•           Leads ML strategy and road map planning.

•           Analyzes and interprets statistical data to identify significant differences in relationships among sources of information.

•           Processes large amounts of data for statistical modeling and graphic analysis.

•           Evaluates statistical methods and procedures used to obtain data to ensure validity, applicability, efficiency, and accuracy.

•           Sets vision, goals, and direction of team/organization.

•           Plans and leads organization-wide initiatives.

•           Provides leadership, technical supervision, and expertise to multiple teams in broad technical areas on complex organization-wide projects.

•           Advises senior management on technical strategy.

•           Oversees the technical implementation of cross-divisional components.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and six (6) years of experience in the job offered or six (6) years of experience researching and building complex and scalable AI algorithms, models, platforms, and technologies to improve customer experience and drive business results in the financial services industry.

Or, alternatively, Master’s degree (or foreign education equivalent) in Analytics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, Information Systems, Mathematics, Physics, or a closely related field and four (4) years of experience in the job offered or four (4) years of experience researching and building complex and scalable AI algorithms, models, platforms, and technologies to improve customer experience and drive business results in the financial services industry.

Skills and Knowledge:

Candidate must also possess:

Demonstrated Expertise (“DE”) developing semi-supervised, supervised, and unsupervised Machine Learning (ML) (in Python or R) and Deep Learning (DL) models (in PyTorch or Tensorflow); applying functional paradigms — Haskell — to build composable learning systems and products; and performing probabilistic modeling, using PyStan, PyMC3, or Pyro.

DE researching, applying, and deploying state-of-the-art Natural Language Processing (NLP) methods, using Python and DL frameworks — PyTorch or Tensorflow; and performing model compilation and optimization using TorchScript and ONNX.

DE creating model performance monitoring and governance systems in Python; implementing Cloud-based ML pipelines using Amazon Web Services (AWS) tools — Sagemaker, EC2, S3, and API Gateway; and performing GPU orchestration, using Docker, CUDA libraries, Kubernetes, and Kubeflow.

DE serving ML and DL models in low-latency production systems using REST API endpoints; performing source code management and version control using Git; and integrating DevOps tools for automated deployments to build and promote Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) practices.
