Job Description:
A Director in the Complex Asset Group at Fidelity Charitable works with philanthropists, their professional advisors and issuer counsel to facilitate charitable donations of complex assets such as equity interests in privately held C corporations, S corporations, limited partnerships (including private equity, hedge fund and other alternative investment vehicles) and limited liability companies. You will be part of a cross-functional team that will oversee such contributed assets from initial inquiry, to completion of charitable transfers, post-acceptance oversight and closings/funding of Giving Accounts upon liquidation of contributed assets. Serving at the intersection of wealth creation and philanthropy, you will help make more of a difference for business owners, private equity investors, and their professional legal, tax and financial advisors, who are increasingly seeking more strategic ways to use growth investments to improve their philanthropic impact.
Fidelity Charitable is the go-to charity for business owners seeking to donate appreciated long-term capital gain property to charity. The Complex Assets Group serves as the first call for professional advisors and their founder, C-suite executive, early investor, employee shareholder, and institutional investor clients, seeking to use their appreciated long-term capital assets for philanthropy.
The Team
Fidelity Charitable is an independent public charity that sponsors the largest national donor-advised fund program. Since 1991, Fidelity Charitable has introduced tens of thousands of donors to the benefits — and increased charitable impact — of using a donor-advised fund to meet their philanthropic goals. Fidelity Charitable is governed by an independent Board of Trustees, which has hired Fidelity Investments as the service provider to the charity. Fidelity Investments provides all of the charitable organization’s employees and supports all of its functions: Program Development, Marketing, Service Delivery, Relationship Management, Finance, Technology, Risk and Compliance, and Fundraising. The Complex Asset Group, where this role is based, supports our advisor and donor community with sophisticated planning solutions, including fueling the power of appreciated assets in donor portfolios for charitable giving. This strategy is transformational, not only to the donor’s philanthropic goals, but also to a professional advisor’s overall ability to provide outstanding service to philanthropic clients.
