The Role

The Director will be responsible for oversight of the tax-advantaged investment plans under section 529 of the Internal Revenue Code managed by Fidelity Investments (“529 Plans”). In this role in the Asset Management Treasurer’s Office, you will build an oversight program for the 529 Plans that aligns with the oversight framework currently in place for the Fidelity retail and institutional funds. The program will include oversight of financial statements, accounting policies and service providers and you will identify opportunities for enhancing controls and improving efficiencies.  You will think and work across Fidelity, partnering with Fidelity Fund and Investment Operations, the Fidelity relationship managers for the 529 Plans and our key Asset Management business partners in Legal, Compliance, and Risk.

The Expertise and Skills You Bring

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in accounting or finance
  • Minimum 9+ years industry or equivalent experience
  • Extensive knowledge and understanding of fund operations and regulatory requirements for 529 Plans and other investment fund products
  • Knowledge of operational risk management and internal controls, governance and oversight processes
  • CPA a plus 
  • Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently
  • Possesses excellent organizational, operational and project/process management skills
  • Strong collaboration skills and an ability to work optimally across business units
  • Ability to manage multiple points of view and influence others
  • Excellent verbal, written and formal presentations communication skills
  • Ability to effectively identify, resolve and communicate issues and risks to senior business leaders

The Team

The Asset Management Treasurer’s Office provides fiduciary oversight of Fidelity’s funds, shareholder activity, and service providers. We use industry knowledge, technical experience, and our responsibility as fiduciaries to set and monitor adherence to fund policies, and we support the Funds’ Boards of Trustees in fulfilling their responsibilities to the Fidelity Mutual Funds. In addition to overseeing Fidelity’s existing products, we also actively support Asset Management’s efforts to expand investment capabilities by ensuring appropriate oversight is in place for new products prior to implementation.
