Barrier Operations Director
This role is responsible for helping to manage and direct the program for the implementation, operations, and monitoring of the Information Barriers policy along with support of other Barrier Operations responsibilities. By performing continuous review of policies, procedures and systems utilized to ensure compliance and minimize risk, the team promotes the goals of Fidelity and of the Advisers; providing real-time technical and interpretative advice.
As a member of the Barrier Operations team, the Director is expected to lead, consult, and influence resolutions on problems and issues across the Advisers related to information barriers and to recommend and implement long-range solution strategies. This role requires an excellent working knowledge of investment adviser and investment company compliance and the rules and risks under which they operate. Day-to-day interaction with portfolio managers and research analysts is required to ensure that information barrier restrictions are understood, and issues are resolved in an appropriate and timely manner. Frequent interaction with the Compliance and Operations of FIL and Geode also occurs in order to resolve potential policy violations.
The Role
Supporting and maintaining the disaggregation Information Barrier program, including policy & procedure updates, annual training development, periodic communication, internal/external audit support and other administrative responsibilities;
Resolving escalated matters, including research, documentation, discussion with Legal and other business units along with supporting other Barrier Operations functions such as MNPI;
Evaluating and applying multiple regulatory requirements to requests received related to information sharing;
Understanding of complex access provisioning and navigation of systems and applications;
Developing new oversight programs for other types of Information Barriers;
Solving business problems with a focus on process improvements and automation;
Leading business initiatives and projects

The Expertise and Skills You Bring
Bachelor’s degree and typically 10+ years in the financial services industry, compliance, legal, and/or risk experience;
Experience in new policy/program development and implementation;
Motivated self-starter with the ability to work independently and comfortable with ambiguity;
Exceptional relationship management, communication and influencing skills across all levels of the organization and across varying business units;
High degree of integrity and strong work ethic; orientation toward results; positive attitude;
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills;
Detail oriented with ability to interpret complex matters and provide recommended solutions;
Excellent verbal and written communication skills along with confident presentation skills;
Ability to multi-task, prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously;
Understanding of complex business structures and ability to effectively network and navigate to drive solutions.

The Barrier Operations team, within AMC, is responsible for supporting both the Information Barriers and Material Non-Public Information programs. This team serves as the point of contact for individuals across Asset Management and more broadly, across the firm, regarding inquiries pertaining to information barriers.
