Direct Tax and Transfer Pricing Senior Analyst

THE ROLE
The role sits within the Tax team, and focuses on Direct Tax returns and Transfer Pricing. The role covers the end-to-end compliance and reporting process, including working with advisors on the preparation and submission of tax returns and transfer pricing documents, ensuring accurate reporting and disclosures in financial statements, and supporting with ad hoc internal analysis and audit requests. The role works closely with the Finance team to ensure correct reporting of balances, and with the Tax Transformation Lead to deliver process improvements. The role also works with the wider business to ensure any initiatives are appropriately considered from a direct tax and transfer pricing perspective, and implemented successfully.
What you'll be doing:
· Working with advisors to prepare and submit direct tax returns (and any other closely associated returns) for the UK and overseas – there may be instances where returns are prepared and filed in-house
· Coordinating with Treasury to ensure that tax payments are made on a timely basis
· Working with Finance to ensure accurate end to end accounting and reporting, including accurate balance sheet reconciliations and data integrity of information
· Identifying data risks and issues, and work with the Tax Transformation Lead and Fintech to resolve the data issues
· Working with the Tax Transformation Lead and the broader Tax team to identify and implement improvements to direct tax and transfer pricing processes
· Identifying potential tax risks and cash savings opportunities, and lead initiative(s) to man-age the risks or realise the opportunities
· Dealing with communication and queries from HMRC and other tax authorities
· Working with the business to understand and support any business initiatives and associated change impacts from requirements through to successful implementation to ensure compliance and accurate reporting
· Supporting auditors with providing appropriate supporting documentation, if requested
We’d love to meet someone with…
· A tax accounting qualification (preferably ATT, ACCA or ACA) with prior experience of working in tax accounting experience
· Strong awareness of the mechanics of UK Direct Tax and Transfer pricing, and good awareness of international tax, particularly relating to the retail e-commerce industry
· Business partnering experience
· Financial accounting and reporting experience
· A proven ability to plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
· Advanced skills in Excel
· A high standard of accuracy with financial data
· An ability to organise own work and to take initiative
· An ability to determine insightful observations from detail for management attention
· Commercial awareness
· Good communication/interpersonal and influencing skills
· A flexible and open to change approach
