The Challenge
The Corporate Communications team is at the heart of DIO, sharing news and information about the crucial role that DIO plays within the Ministry of Defence.
Made up of four key disciplines; Strategy and Planning, Internal Communications, External Communications and Campaigns and Marketing, we inform, engage and influence a diverse range of audiences. We are looking for creative communications professionals to join our growing team, who will help us to continue to transform and modernise our approaches and channels.
DIO has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, creative, and enthusiastic individual to join their Corporate Communications team. The role will sit in the newly established Marketing and Campaigns function and will support a wide range of external and internal facing campaigns.
This is a new role, one that is crucial in supporting successful delivery of all campaigns, significantly its recently piloted Training Estate Public Safety (TEPS) campaign. The post holder will provide a key role in supporting team activities that drive project objectives. They will assist with all aspects of campaigns, including research, planning, execution and evaluation.
We are looking for an individual with a positive, can-do attitude, self-disciplined with excellent organisational and time-management skills. We encourage creative thinking and welcome contributions to our campaigns, especially from those who are willing to think outside of the box, experiment with ideas and challenge conventions.
The successful candidate will be expected to support the team’s digital Designer and should possess a basic knowledge of, and previous experience using, design and video editing software packages including Adobe Creative cloud packages inc. Photoshop, inDesign, Premier & After Effects (or similar alternatives).
They should demonstrate a willingness to embrace new technologies and a passion for learning, developing and sharing best practice that helps the team modernise its approach to communications and marketing.
The successful applicant should possess excellent written and verbal communication skills as they will work collaboratively across wider corporate communications and stakeholders both internal and external to DIO.

Main Responsibilities
• Support the Campaigns and Marketing team in researching, planning, implementing and evaluating its campaigns
• Provide a point of contact service for all campaigns and marketing enquiries
• Collaborate with communication embeds in other teams to share latest advice, guidance and information as part of ongoing knowledge exchange
• Assist the team’s Designer by creating and editing graphics, documents and videos
• Create and maintain digital storage of all campaign, marketing and branding materials via Sharepoint
• Act as secretariat to all project board meetings
Desirable Experience & Skills
• Previous experience of working in communications, marketing and/or strategic planning
• Knowledge and experience of using digital design software
• Excellent IT skills across Apple and MS software
• Degree in communications, Marketing or Business Management (or related subject).

The DIO corporate communications team is primarily based at Whittington Barracks in Lichfield (WS14 9TJ). We offer a flexible base location for this role and for candidates who wish to work more remotely, we will look to assign an alternative MOD establishment as their duty station. Some key Defence locations are listed but others will be considered.
Regular travel to the DIO HQ in Lichfield will be required, as well as visits to other Defence locations in the UK and occasionally overseas.
