VirginMediaO2 currently has a huge footprint of infrastructure within the UK. Our area is responsible for the design build and automation for the infrastructure and life cycle management duties.  

 

About the role

The Automation and Orchestration team within Infrastructure Cloud Engineering and Delivery are looking for a DevOps Automation Engineer to join their established and successful team. As a DevOps automation engineer, you will focus on driving efficiencies, building effective solutions resulting in cost saving, reduction in time and building more standardized and scalable solutions to continuously deliver a range of applications and services.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Contributing continuously within the Agile DevOps team.
  • Drive automation and efficiencies - automate and optimize everything.
  • Promoting collaboration across the teams.
  • Promote excellent software engineering practices (e.g., CICDCT methods including build, deploy, test automation)
  • Work closely with the Head of the department, your peers, and architects to deliver a clear infrastructure cloud strategy.
  • Encourage innovation.
  • Maintain extremely high standards – leading the team towards 99.99% availability.

 

What We Need from You:

Essential Skills:

  • Proven track record delivering CICDCT work streams.
  • Strong knowledge and track record in development, test, and system automation.
  • The ability to coordinate and troubleshoot complex issues.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructures including Google and AWS.
  • Strong understanding of VMWare and Network solutions
  • Strong automation skills using Python and Ansible.
  • Continuous Integration, Build and Delivery using a range of tools such as Jenkins and GitLab and standard open-source tools.
  • Ability to communicate with a variety of stakeholders at all levels to champion DevOps practice.
  • Experience with relational & NoSQL data stores, such as MariaDB and MongoDB
