Position Summary 

Work in a fast-pace team environment while seeing ideas come to life. The Engineering Manager shall be responsible for leading a team of engineers through the planning, development, prototyping, validation, and launch of new boat programs for the Venture Group. A successful candidate will be grounded in strong technical and problem-solving ability, sound leadership skills, and the ability to use resource planning and project management tools to monitor team productivity and milestone attainment.

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Guides team to achieve program objectives and milestones with a high level of quality in a timely manner.
  • Track and analyze program performance, productivity, and identify conflicts in resource requirements and program schedules.
  • Work with the engineering team to balance multiple projects and conflicting priorities.
  • Ownership of resource plan inputs for the engineering team.
  • Create plans with employees around growth, development, and capability building.
  • Manage overall Performance Management/Achieve Process for the team, including regular individual feedback sessions, year-end reviews, and compensation planning.
  • Identify and execute projects around PDE process standardization and consistency, and other continuous improvement opportunities.
  • Understand general new boat program requirements and develop program plan to meet milestones.
  • Work with program managers, business partners, outside contractors, and internal/external suppliers to meet or exceed project expectations.
  • Accesses engineering master 3D models and new parts planning applications to gather inputs for engineering resource plan and tooling load plan creation.
  • Able to support team by developing 3D surface models and engineering areas of the boat when required.
  • Maintain direct and frequent interface with other Brunswick companies to insure consistency throughout the organization.
  • Must be willing to travel both domestically and internationally (minimum 10%).

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required (consideration will be given for candidates with significant work experience in lieu of education requirements).
  • Minimum 10+ years’ experience in new product development.
  • Design for Six Sigma and Lean Six Sigma experience a plus.
  • HPPD processes and practices (can be developed during initial time in position).
  • Must have excellent verbal, written and presentation communication skills, as well as experience communicating with technical, cross-functional teams.
  • Must have a proven track record of being able to influence and coordinate personnel and resources not within their immediate control.
  • Proficiency in all Microsoft applications.
  • Knowledge of CAD and PLM platforms required (Siemens NX and Teamcenter preferred).
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Able to handle multiple projects efficiently and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must have good judgment skills and working knowledge of tooling, prototype, and construction procedures.
  • Boating experience desired.
