Project:
Bechtel are recruiting for individuals to help deliver a critical defence infrastructure project in the Plymouth area of the UK. You will be part of a team entrusted with the success of what is a high-profile and nationally-important undertaking, working in a highly-collaborative partnership with our client and supply chain colleagues. Our responsibilities span engineering, procurement, construction and commissioning phases, delivered with a focus on safety, environmental sustainability, energy efficiency, and modern engineering and construction methodologies. Experience of the defence and nuclear sectors can be helpful, but we are equally interested in the ability of candidates to apply broader experiences in a new environment.
Time will be split between the Plymouth site and remote working as workload requires.
Candidates must be UK nationals due to site security requirements including the need to have or obtain SC clearance.
Working within an integrated client and JV partner team to deliver a complex project, your ability to work collaboratively will be critical.
The role:
Responsible for the organization and direction of construction and related activities on the construction project. Responsibilities are to ensure assigned jobsite operations are in compliance with design/specifications, completion on schedule, within budget and to quality standards.
Responsible for jobsite operations including onsite activities of contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, clients and their representatives and others as may be assigned within area of responsibility
Responsible for administration of assigned area(s) contractual activities. Participates in contracts and subcontracts meetings
Responsible for coordination of construction interfaces to ensure they coincide with the overall established schedules
Plans and implements procedures to ensure construction operations are continuously adhering to engineering designs, specifications, quality standards, schedules and budget
Maintains relationships with the client and their representatives, as assigned
Ensures that Babcock regulatory safety codes, requirements and standards are being complied with in assigned area of responsibility.
Ensures the Zero Accident Philosophy is incorporated into all aspects of construction operations. Actively participates in scheduled safety meetings
Monitoring the execution of the work in accordance with the drawings and specifications in a quality manner.
Monitoring and managing contractors construction performance while adhering to the project schedule and budget
Providing reports on status, progress, and issues to the project management
Position Skills
Knowledge of all phases of construction operations relating to field activities of engineering disciplines, construction technologies and jobsite management
Knowledge of the Project ES&H Handbook, the Supervisors ES&H Manual, the Project Safety Management Plan and the Bechtel Core Processes
Knowledge of the Project Construction Environmental Control Plan
Knowledge of Bechtel’s Zero Accident Philosophy
Computer literate with written and oral communication skills
Knowledge is normally acquired through:
§ A recognized degree in an engineering or scientific discipline, or
§ Specialized courses in construction management, and/or
§ Prior work experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge described above
