Position Summary

Our Deloitte studio teams are part of a full-service interactive marketing and advertising agency. We are seeking UX/UI Designer Studio Summer Scholars to join our collection of artists, analysts, strategists, engineers, writers, makers, business-builders, designers, doers, and dreamers, who are all united by a belief in the power of creativity to Elevate the Human Experience. Each incoming Studio Intern is provided with a range of project opportunities to develop their skills and interests while also building a strong foundation as future leader at Deloitte.  We are looking for people who share our passion for translating ideas into relevant and innovative products to solve business problems.  

Work You’ll Do

The Studio Summer Scholar is responsible for working in partnership with the broader product team (including business owners, product management, business architecture, engineering, and designers) to solve complex user experience problems and articulate clear design requirements in a human-centered framework: 

• Represent the voice of the user(s) in business and product conversations and decisions.
• Participate in user research activities such as user interviews, surveys, and usability studies.
• Translate research insights into product ideas and solutions.
• Design user flows, wireframes and pixel-perfect high-fidelity mockups at a high level and build out refined details.
• Prototype concepts for communication with the business, to aid in sales demos, development, and usability studies.
• Collaborate with UX designers to translate requirements for use by Engineering colleagues.
• Understand and incorporate complex technical and business requirements into elegant design decisions based on data, trends, and industry best practices.
• Present, articulate, and sell design ideas and recommendations to product management and business stakeholders.

What You Bring

Your online portfolio:

• Showcases your experience, storytelling and design presentation skills
• Demonstrates strong design judgement and an ability to solve nebulous UX/UI problems
• Showcases your projects with a breadth of diverse projects and challenges
• Focuses on your guiding experience design process, principles and techniques

Ability to:

• Approach design challenges with and open mind and ability to navigate difficult working relationships
• Organize and self-direct to get things done
• Communicate your ideas in an efficient, persuasive manner
• Work independently and in groups as needed
• Experiment with emerging technology / design trends, tools and methods
• A consistent passion for learning and pursuing your craft 
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Bonus points:

• Qualitative and quantitative research methodologies
• Experience with conversational UI
• Experience in augmented, virtual or mixed reality
• Participation in the wider design community and connections with creative organizations such as UXPA, Creative Mornings, etc.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree completed by August 2023 with focus in these related areas of study: HCI, User Experience Design, Computer Science or a design-focused qualification
• Strong academic track record (preferred GPA of 3.5)
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need for employer sponsorship, now or at any time in the future
• Ability to travel up to 30% (while 30% of travel is a requirement of the role, due to COVID-19, non-essential travel has been suspended until further notice)

Throughout the course of the internship program, you’ll receive formal and informal mentorship and training. Our Studio Summer Scholar training program provides a view both into the technical skills as well as critical professional behaviors, standards, and mindsets required to make the most of your internship. The program includes a variety of team-based, hands-on exercises and activities.
