The Role

We are seeking an Oracle Database Architect to join our team in Piscataway, NJ.

As a Database Architect at Colgate-Palmolive GIT, the position will help support and reinforce the company's websites and applications. This role is largely responsible for the configuration, implementation, and maintenance of database systems to ensure high performance with excellent reliability. We are looking to fill this position with a highly proficient and motivated individual that enjoys working across all environments including production. This role requires a service oriented mentality with a high sense of ownership. A focus on problem prevention, managing and resolving issues, performing changes on production systems, and proactively communicating issues internally.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain databases access systems including tables, indexes, views, stored procedures, and triggers

  • Configure and administer relational databases

  • Set up, test and maintain database backup and recovery systems and processes

  • Tune and optimize database objects

  • Develop new databases using sound problem solving techniques including performing root cause analysis and identification of corrective action for given problems

  • Uses tools and scripting to efficiently manage technology

  • Translate business requirements into action through detailed data design and development

  • Identifies interdependencies in system and application components

  • Work directly with consultants and technicians from vendor companies

  • Demonstrates proficient use and knowledge of standards and procedures

  • Communicates in written and verbal form optimally in a large team or departmental setting

 

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor Degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent.

  • 5+ years of proven ability using Oracle 11g or newer and other RDBMS including MS-SQL or MySQL

  • 5+ years of demonstrated ability with large scale databases and environments.

  • Experience in UNIX/Linux environments with a detailed understanding of the underlying operating system.

  • Experience in SQL/shell scripting.

  • Experience in database change management/data management through the various stages of the system development life cycle.

  • Oracle tools (SQL*Plus, Data Pump, SQL Loader, RMAN, Data Guard) experience is a major plus

  • Knowledge and experience in database security management.

  • Knowledge and experience in troubleshooting and database performance tuning principles.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication.

  • Define policies and establish standards for data modeling, structuring, naming, describing, securing and formatting data

  • Experience with Agile and Waterfall project management methodologies

 

Preferred Requirements

  • Google Cloud Platform; Fire Store

  • Working experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), Amazon API Gateway

  • Experience with Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or other Content Management Systems

  • Experience with Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC)

  • Experience with Managed Dedicated and Cloud Computing Services
