We are currently looking for an experienced Data Standards Team Leader to join our Technology, Digital, Data & Delivery (TD3) group.
This is a full- time opportunity, on a permanent basis. Our current office locations are Canary Wharf, London and South Mimms, Hertfordshire. This role works across both sites, and you can be based at either. Regular travel to the other site is a requirement of the role. We are currently implementing a hybrid way of working, with many colleagues working a minimum of 4 days* per month in the office, building up to a minimum of 8 days over the coming months. Re remained of the time can be worked remotely, or in the office. Some roles will need to be on site more regularly.

Technology, Digital, Data & Delivery (TD3) lies at the heart of the Agency and is responsible for delivering an optimised IT infrastructure and maximising the secure use of data to enable the rest of the organisation to deliver world class services. Its centre of excellence is also responsible for delivering a broad portfolio of change initiatives, both to transform the Agency’s legacy technologies and to deliver innovative new solutions, designed around our customers’ needs.
The Data & Information Governance function is responsible for leading on data and information governance, ensuring that the Agency can access the data it needs when it needs it, including supporting the technology roadmap by providing security and privacy and for leading the management protocols on data, information security and privacy, in order to ensure that the Agency can draw maximum insight from the data it holds.
The successful candidate will manage the day-to-day operations of the Reference Data Team, ensuring the accuracy of data entered into the master and reference data dictionaries. You will be responsible for providing excellent customer service to MHRA staff and external customers.
You will manage the workload and operations of the Unit ensuing that targets are met, any backlogs dealt with promptly and staff are adequately trained, developed and motivated. In addition, you will maintain master and reference data dictionaries ensuring that requests for new reference terms are handled efficiently and accurately, liaising with MHRA experts as required, and ensure that controlled vocabularies, the substance dictionary and company data dictionary are used correctly and effectively.
Ensuring business processes are conducted in a timely way and management information is produced as required, you will also support the development of the Reference Data capability to ensure the maintenance and enhancement of existing reference data services; the development of new services; and initiatives to increase the Agency’s maturity in data management and data sharing.
Our ideal candidate will have a degree in chemistry, biology or a similar scientific discipline or have significant experience gained in a scientific or biomedical environment. In addition, you will be able to demonstrate your successful experience in team management, delivering high data quality standards, excellent customer service and meeting service level agreements. The ability to apply Knowedge & Information Management (KIM) good practise and standards to manage and organise knowledge and information so that i can be made available and used.
The ability to identify opportunities for service improvement, and to work with delivery teams and customers to implement them.
Annual Leave: 25 days annual leave on entry, rising by one day for each completed year of service to a maximum of 30 days and pro-rata for part-time staff. PLUS 8 bank holidays
Privilege Leave: 1 day only for the Queen\'s birthday
Hours of Work: 37 hours (net) per week for full time staff in all geographical locations, including London and pro rata for part-time staff
Occupational Sick Pay (OSP): One month full pay/one month half pay on entry, rising by one month for each completed year of service to a maximum of five months full pay/five months half pay
Mobility: Mobility clause in contracts allowing staff to be mobile across the Civil Service
