Job Purpose and Impact

The Data Platform Manager will provide strategic direction and technical leadership across our Data Platform. In this role, you will lead individuals who conduct software engineering, architecture, testing, configuration and support to ensure smooth, stable and timely implementation of new capabilities across a broad spectrum of technologies that comprise our enterprise data platform.

Key Accountabilities

• You will be a key player in building and scaling a Snowflake environment.
• Service owner for the Data Platform which is in use globally across a vast array of solutions and businesses. The current deployment is built on a Cloudera Hadoop environment.
• Develop and foster new and existing relationships with management, consultants, and users to understand business priorities while compiling and prioritizing, enhancements and defect resolutions to applications.
• Provide broad oversight and advise engineers in technical software testing and debugging of systems and software applications, as needed.
• Supervise a medium-sized team performing standard-to-advanced and highly complex programming, coding and documentation of systems and applications software.
• Help set high-level direction, strategy, and technical planning of system/application technology in accordance with internal and external software compliance standards.
• Develop plans and deliver results in a fast-changing business or regulatory environment, while leading and developing a team of experienced professionals and supervisors, coaching and making decisions related to talent management hiring, performance and disciplinary actions. You will also collaborate with managers and supervisors in your organization to ensure staff selections align with current and future needs.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience

• Minimum of eight years of related work experience

• Confirmed experience operating a service at scale within a large organization

• Expertise in SQL and working in enterprise data

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Three years of supervisory experience

• Experience deploying Snowflake at a large organization

• Experience with Hadoop (HDFS, Kudu, Impala, Hive)

• Experience with data science tools (Jupyter, RStudio, Gurobi)

• Confirmed experience in building software using Java, python, C# or similar

• Confirmed experience running a data platform (Hadoop, Snowflake or similar) at a large organization

• Expertise in continuous integration and delivery practices
