Cox Enterprises is hiring a Data Governance Manager to join our team! As the Data Governance Manager, you will support our Data Governance and Privacy function under our newly formed Data Governance Office (DGO). In this role, you will be accountable for assisting in the development and implementation of Data Governance and Privacy initiatives and will support the creation and promulgation of policies, processes, and standards to ensure coordination, standardization, and alignment of business unit activities with DGO objectives.
A successful candidate will be collaborative, self-directed, and comfortable operating in ambiguous/white space; someone who enjoys wearing multiple hats and can adapt quickly in a dynamic environment; a critical thinker as well as a performer; and someone who has previous experience in operations and technology projects. A mix of both project management and domain knowledge will be critical, as this role will work closely with partners from across our organization to realize the goals and objectives of the DGO.
Job Responsibilities
Work with the Assistant General Counsel of Privacy to manage, review, and recommend changes to data governance policies, standards, and guidelines
Coordinate and deliver tactical DGO initiatives and capabilities in collaboration with various departments and diverse stakeholders
Assist in the intake and assessment of DG initiatives and priorities
Facilitate communication and reporting between the DGO and executive stakeholders
Help to oversee and track data governance practices across business units
Lead the development of data governance program communications, awareness, mentoring, and training materials
Collaborate on DG best practices with other Cox divisions
Educate business unit leaders on DG best practices
Manage a variety of viewpoints to build consensus and create positive outcomes for all parties
Qualifications:
Required Knowledge/Skills:
5+ years of professional business experience with a progressive track record of accomplishments in Information Governance, Data Governance, and Privacy
Relevant Bachelor's degree: IAPP certification preferred
Extensive experience in developing, planning, and executing data governance improvement initiatives
Demonstrated understanding and capabilities in the following areas:
Data Management
Privacy Operations
Policy Management and Design Principles
Controls Documentation and Monitoring
Records Management, including Data Retention
Individual Rights Management
Data Protection
Reporting and Data Analytics
Strong project management and coordination skills with proven ability to meet deadlines, prioritize assignments, and manage multiple projects
Demonstrated partnering skills, plus excellent verbal, and written communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners (including senior leadership) with a focus on informing, influencing, and relationship-building
Strong consultative skills, which includes the proven ability to influence consensus decision making across a variety of stakeholders and to succinctly document the outcome of these decisions
Ability to manipulate and present information in Excel and PowerPoint.
Preferred Knowledge/Skills:
Experience with Data Governance and Privacy technology such as OneTrust, Varonis, and M365
Knowledge of laws and regulations that impact our business, including GDPR, CCPA, CPRA, and other emerging regulations
Knowledge of security and privacy controls frameworks, including NIST, ISO, and PCI
Knowledge of Cox businesses – a plus
