This is an exciting SEO opportunity in a new data team that aims to bring timely data, analysis and insights from across and beyond Defra to support situational awareness on key issues relating to the departments critical sectors. This role sits in the Policy Response Unit (PRU) within the Constitution and Strategic Projects Directorate (CASP). You will be working flexibly across the Unit to support emerging workstreams.
We are a small and friendly team with a diverse range of people responsible for identifying, planning for contingencies and mitigations for key risks and issues. This includes broad disruptive challenges which face government as a whole where Defra is not already the lead government department. The PRU works with a broad range of teams and stakeholders across Defra and government.
In this role you will be supporting high profile workstreams that are a priority for senior officials including the Secretary of State, Ministers and Permanent Secretary. This will be through the analysis and presentation of data to influence the development of policy options and support decision making.
The post-holder will need to be flexible, comfortable working at pace and be able to adapt to changing priorities and will have a thorough understanding of analytical principles and the ability to apply these to the complex real-world policy challenges that Defra deals with. This must be accompanied by a proven ability to balance immediate needs whilst being aware of the bigger picture.
