Culinary Flavorist, Savory – Erlanger, KY

MAIN FUNCTION: ADM is seeking a Flavorist to support the Savory/Culinary category projects in flavor creation while driving sales in the organization through original creation of innovative winning flavors, flavor systems utilizing superior ingredient & technology knowledge in the Savory/Culinary category.

KEY SKILLS & COMPETENCIES:
 

• Flavor Creation Skills :  >10 years of experience in flavor creation with a proven track record of expertise and sales in cross categories
• Leadership – The position requires excellence in leadership and project management skills
• Communication – The position requires well developed communication skills, able to communicate at all levels of the organization. Good presentation skills are necessary.
• Experience – able to demonstrate knowledge of and appreciate different cultures, methods of cooking, discriminate flavor  
• Travel- Able to travel up to 20%

DESCRIPTION OF WORK PERFORMED:

 

• Lead Savory/Culinary Flavor projects – Manage creative projects and collaborate and drive outstanding performance in the Savory/Culinary category.
• Develop from scratch creative and innovative Flavors for the Global Savory/Culinary Category
• Develop flavor top-notes, flavor systems and toolbox approach for key customers
• Introduce new Savory/Culinary raw materials & identify ingredient companies offering novel materials
• Develop a strong network of relationships, with customers and vendors, across the Savory/Culinary industry
• Develop and nurture partnerships with key suppliers
• Work with Analytical to develop a robust database of savory flavor & ingredient analyses
• Lead the development of savory/culinary flavors including beef, chicken,  pork, vegetarian in a variety of formats including liquids, reactions, powders, finished flavor systems and incorporating novel ingredients
• Develop a robust portfolio of consumer preferred flavors for Savory/Culinary products
• Work closely with Purchasing to ensure best pricing, quality of materials and clean labels
• Work with the global flavorist community to ensure transfer of knowledge.
• Work with Marketing to promote the Savory/Culinary flavor category and message and publicize the Savory/Culinary competency to the food industry
• Work with sales and global sales to identify opportunities for the Savory/Culinary category
• Participate on all high potential Savory/Culinary projects and global initiatives
• Work closely with Sensory/Consumer Insights to develop emotionally evocative and preferred Savory/Culinary flavors

KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

 

• Proven track record of success in the F & F Industry  preferably in the Savory/Culinary Category but not essential. Training can be provided. Capable of creating finished flavors & flavor systems in multiple formats
• Science Degree or higher (chemistry /Food Science preferred) at a reputable educational establishment
• At least 5- 10 years flavorist experience and able to demonstrate commercial success
• Full working knowledge of all flavor raw materials, flavor chemistry, flavor creation & composition
• Good knowledge of manufacturing processes and delivery technologies
• Member of Society of Flavor Chemists preferred
• Highly developed project management skills including a working knowledge of Microsoft office (Excel, PPT, WORD etc.)
