Responsibilities

 As a Critical Facilities Engineering Manager, you will be developing, maintaining, and delivering Microsoft’s standards and tools to deliver global consistency and predictability in a high availability, mission critical environment. In developing our program, you will leverage a variety of information that will come to us by way of monitoring for program health, identifying continuous improvement opportunities, evaluating industry trends, evaluating industry best practices, evaluating customer insight, and analyzing lessons learned. You will champion delivery of new developments and implementation of programs developed by our group. You will serve as the lead technical Systems and Process resource for Operational Excellence in infrastructure maintenance and operations. You will serve as an escalation point for issues identified in the operations of our data centers as it relates to global standards. In development of programs, you will identify requirements owners, end users, document owners, and tools owners.

 You will partner with

1. Internal: Field Operations, Engineering, Construction, Cost Management, Finance, Safety, Legal, Risk and other groups as needed
2. External: suppliers, industry groups,

 Skills:

• Experience in data centers, mission critical or heavy industrial sectors.
• Facilities Management Experience: Preference for experience onsite and large-scale facilities

Qualifications

 Required Experience:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering/Mechanical Engineering/ Process Engineering or in relevant field or equivalent work experience
• In depth experience with large-scale electrical power or HVAC infrastructure
• Very Strong program/project management experience
• Strong experience operating or supporting the operations of mission critical or large scale data center
• Strong People Management experience in leading functional team(s)

 Desired Experience:

• In depth project management experience with a focus on PMI, Agile, Lean, Six Sigma or ITIL methodologies.
• Professional Engineering (PE) license, or equivalent technical certification. 
• Fundamental understanding of large-scale critical infrastructure maintenance and operations, especially with regards to electrical distribution systems or HVAC systems
• Knowledge of construction techniques and terminology including the ability to read and interpret blueprints, construction drawings and documents is essential.
• Ability to write specifications to be leveraged by partner teams
• Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully execute multiple concurrent mission-critical infrastructure projects.
• Good program development experience.
• Working knowledge of contract terms, conditions, mechanism, and procedures.
• Very Strong experience with the operation and maintenance of building electrical systems or HVAC systems. (Power distribution, cooling systems, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, security, life safety, and controls systems).
• Ability to manage multiple high-priority tasks and projects, including those involving cross-functional teams.
• Experience with CMMS, SharePoint, and PowerBI.
• Ability to balance competing demands for resources and adapt to changing priorities.
• Demonstrated strategic and deliberate approach to problem solving in ambiguous environments.
• Proven ability to deliver projects on-time and as specified.
• Proven ability to motivate disparate teams both direct and indirect to solve issues.
• Proven ability to apply clear critical thinking in complex situations.
• Provide meaningful and timely reporting for weekly success metrics
• Occasional travel will be involved.

These requirements include, but are not limited to, the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
