Global Risk is a thriving and expert risk management function supporting HSBC globally with all aspects of risk management. The team actively handles a varied and dynamic range of risk types, including security, fraud, information security, contingency, geopolitical, operational, credit, pension, insurance, financial crime and regulatory compliance, market and reputation risks. All parts of the Global Risk team use their skills, insight and integrity to handle established threats and those they see emerging, acting to protect and enable HSBC to deliver sustainable growth.

Due to the expansion of the Unsecured Credit Risk Management team we are currently seeking 2 x individuals to join in the role of Credit Risk Manager.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead a range of analytical projects for the team, shaping the delivery to support business growth objectives with a focus on delivering high quality decisions for our customers driven by data
  • Be accountable for the integrity and accuracy of delivered results;
  • Set our control framework, run the credit portfolios against agreed performance indicators and effectively communicate the level of risk we’re taking
  • Prioritise and plan projects delegating effectively to develop team members, whilst handling and challenging requests for unplanned or ad-hoc work
  • Clearly communicate proposals to gain consensus to strategy changes from partners across the organisation
  • Supervise the quality of the analysts' work, ensure they are adopting standard methodologies and sharing knowledge effectively
  • Positively support the vision and strategy of the department, working with the Senior Leadership Team to engage and empower team members.
  • Maintain compliance with regulation
  • Challenge established policy and procedures, where appropriate and suggest alternatives

Requirements

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  • Highly developed analytical capabilities using relevant software packages to analyse data is needed, i.e. SAS/SQL/VBA;
  • Experience of successful project management working across teams to deliver complex analytical projects is essential;
  • Previous experience in a relevant role, i.e. Credit, Risk Analytics or an Analysis based role is essential
  • You enjoy working collaboratively within a team and can build positive relationships to achieve shared goals
  • You are a clear communicator and are able to confidently communicate complex information to a diverse audience across the business;
  • You are highly motivated and focussed on making a positive impact on our customers and HSBC
  • A detailed understanding of credit risk and the drivers of profitability in the business is essential;
  • Relevant product knowledge including retail products, such as current accounts, credit cards, loans or mortgages is desirable;
  • A good knowledge of application processing, data warehousing and external credit bureau functioning is desirable;
  • Possess a degree/qualification in an analytical/numerical field or equivalent.
