Job purpose

BorgWarner PowerDrive Systems is currently looking for “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Cost Driving Engineer – Electrification.  The Cost Driving Engineer – Electrification is responsible for developing the cost competitive design solution built on current standards for the components of BW PDS products. To achieve this goal, the cost driving team should work with suppliers, Component Release Engineer (CRE), Supplier Development Engineer (SDE) and Global Supply Management (GSM) team in advance and build up internal design expertise for lower cost design. Cost driving engineer should take the lead on the collaboration with CRE, SDE, GSM and all suppliers.

Key responsibilities

• Develop the cost competitive design solution updates for the components of BW PDS products including electric machines and electric drive modules
• Develop and implement Bill of Design (Design Standard) updates of components for the lowest cost
• Supporting GQS for new NBO based on the cost competitive design solution
• Develop supplier production process intelligence
• Main interface with CRE team regarding cost related topics
• Main interface with advance purchasing team in NA, EU
• Manage the cost competitive supplier list and process in NA, EU
• Develop supplier intelligence for NA & EU region

What we’re looking for

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required
• 5+ Years of professional engineering experience in product and/or manufacturing engineering required, although 8+ years of experience is preferred
• Automotive experience highly preferred
• Manufacturing and assembly process knowledge is preferred
• Wide engineering background with experience in complex systems with mechatronics, electrical machines strongly preferred
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English is required
• Skills in other languages is an advantage
• Ability to travel at least 30% is required
• Must be comfortable working multiple programs in a fast-paced work environment
• Must be comfortable working on a global team
• Good at coaching people and fostering a team approach
