Summary

The National Trust is working in partnership with a range of stakeholders to develop an ambitious project to create a new and exciting future for the Castlefield Viaduct in Manchester.  To support this work, we are launching an ambitious fundraising appeal to bring this project to life.  

 We are looking for a highly skilled individual with a passion for corporate fundraising to play a pivotal role in the success of our Castlefield Viaduct fundraising appeal. As our new Corporate Partnerships Consultant, you will be instrumental in helping us to deliver on our plans to bring this Grade II listed viaduct back into use, transforming it into a green oasis created by and for the benefit of local people. For several decades, local people and organisations in the community have been passionate about finding a future for Castlefield Viaduct. We’re excited to be working with them to make this a reality.

This is a fixed term, full time position until July 2023.

We are looking for someone with demonstrable experience of developing, securing and managing business relationships with leading brands and companies, ideally gained in a corporate fundraising environment in the not-for-profit sector. Knowledge or experience of working in and around the Greater Manchester would also be beneficial.  Calling upon your knowledge and expertise in corporate fundraising, you’ll be responsible for securing donations and support from businesses and organisations across Greater Manchester and beyond. You’ll also have a gift for inspiring your colleagues to ‘think like fundraisers’ to unlock enthusiasm, networks and innovative opportunities for fundraising.

Your contractual base will be either our Manchester or Altrincham Hub though hybrid working is supported and encouraged as appropriate. To deliver this ambitious project you will work closely with colleagues from across our regional consultancy as well as our network of Fundraisers based in our central office and throughout England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

 

What you'll be doing

In this role you will work be working on the multi-million pound fundraising appeal, developing relationships with and securing significant donations from corporate partners and businesses.  Working alongside the lead Philanthropy Consultant you will deliver an engaging programme of activity that promotes the project to prospective donors and funders, developing a pipeline of approaches and asks. You will also work alongside a Stewardship Assistant who will support you in developing relationships and engaging supporters.

Who we're looking for

We’re looking for someone who can help us achieve our ambitious targets for the Castlefield Viaduct fundraising appeal. Working with both regional and national colleagues you will develop and deliver the corporate fundraising plan for this major project, growing corporate partnerships activity and supporting new fundraising initiatives We are looking for an enthusiastic and creative individual with a strong understanding of corporate fundraising and a proven track record in securing significant gifts.

 

In your application, please provide details of how you meet the criteria for this role

 

  • Significant track record of developing, securing and managing business relationships with leading brands and companies, ideally gained in a corporate fundraising environment in the not-for-profit sector 
  • High degree of commercial awareness and understanding of the needs of corporate supporters - Thorough knowledge of the corporate social responsibility agenda and the implications for the charity sector 
  • Proven consulting skills of listening, building trust and acting to deliver a high-quality service to colleagues in external and internal networks
  • A people person, you’ll need to be able to build exceptional working relationships with both individuals and teams, internally and externally, that help us achieve our objectives.
  • It’s all about creating a commercially viable, operationally deliverable, enticing and exciting partnership proposition. So, you’ll have to harness audience insight, have financial acumen and work creatively with multiple teams to effectively convert opportunity to reality.
  • You’ll have some budget management experience and understand the impact of staying with our budgets whilst still delivering on targets.
  • You’ll be able to work really well as part of a close-knit team, using your skills to work with other departments, obtaining and communicating the most up to date information about a variety of activity.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven experience of building a compelling case for support
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and industry best practice (Charity Commission, Fundraising Regulator, HMRC, GDPR and CIOF)
