Job Description

Our Corporate Accountant role will supporting the Cigna Canada and all its subsidiary companies in Canada. This role will be providing support for day-to-day accounting operating functions.

Primary Responsibilities

Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare cheque deposits for office administrator to deposit at the bank

  • Prepare all receipts & journal vouchers and submit for review and processing

  • Prepare account reconciliations

Accounts Payable

  • Prepare monthly ACH, Wire Payments and Account Transfers

  • Process invoices and expense reports

  • Issue cheque payments and relevant reports

  • Attached cheques with supporting documentations and include a copy of corresponding cheque and submit to review

  • Prepared cheque requisitions

Financial and Management Reporting

  • Assist in monthly, quarterly and annual financial and management reporting

  • Preparing accounting working papers

  • Maintain Investment Continuity Schedule for all entities

Administration

  • Act as a backup for office assistant, including:

    • Office maintenance

    • Greet visitors

    • Drop off and pick up mail

    • Set up couriers

  • All other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Knowledge and Skills

  • 2+ years of full cycle accounting experience

  • CPA candidate or designation preferred.

  • Strong working knowledge of insurance accounting in accordance with IFRS and US GAAP is preferred

  • Experience with OSFI reporting is an asset

  • Accuracy, attention to detail, adaptability, and ability to maintain confidentiality in respect of information handled is necessary for this role

  • Experience using ACCPAC and Oracle software is an asset

  • Must have experience working in Windows environment using Microsoft Office software and possess advanced Excel and Word skills

  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels.

  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and work in fast-paced environment​
