This position will be responsible for controls and automation engineering supporting machine uptime, continuous process improvement, and execution of the capital improvement plan. This position is exempt, and some off-shift and weekend work will be expected from time to time.
Essential functions may include, but are not limited to:
Drive machine uptime and continuous process improvement through the application of electrical and controls engineering pertaining the following subjects:
Industrial control systems such as pneumatic, hydraulic, position, and temperature systems
Industrial drive systems (AC and DC)
Electrical systems, up to 480V
Communication networks with various protocols
User interfaces and alarming with AB PanelView technology
Support the execution of the plant capital improvement plan through the application of project engineering pertaining to the following subjects:
Development of technical solutions and the required technical scope
Creation of technical documentation including written specifications, controls documentation, electrical schematics, and wiring diagrams using Autodesk AutoCad
Limited use of mechanical layouts and drawings using Autodesk AutoCad and AutoCad Inventor
The oversight of contracted technical teams including project managers, engineers, electricians, and mechanical trades--with the objective of ensuring work is completed safely and to specification
The limited execution of project work, such as wiring a panel
Minimum requirements
Technical degree in a field related to automation and controls engineering from an accredited university.
Experience in a controls engineering function within a manufacturing environment
Ability to create written technical documentation such as controls narratives, field device lists, etc.
Ability to use Autodesk AutoCad to create electrical drawings and wiring diagrams
Preferred, but not required
Limited ability to use Autodesk AutoCad and Inventor to create and modify mechanical drawings
Project management experience
Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs, HMIs, and other controls hardware
Experience with Siemens and Allen Bradley drives, especially coordinated drive systems
Experience with Parker Eurotherm drives is a plus
Experience with communication networks, including ethernet and legacy protocols
Experience with Wonderware Process Historian
Willingness to work limited offshift hours, including weekends, during projects and plant emergencies
Excellent verbal and written communication skills among all levels of the organization
Self-directed, self-starter who is eager to contribute
Dedicated to continued learning both within and outside controls engineering field
Ability to lead, communicate, and work in a team environment
