Job purpose

BorgWarner is currently looking for a “dynamic, results driven” individual to join as a Controls Engineer at our at our Aftermarket Remanufacturing Plant in Troy, MI.

This person will primarily be responsible for developing electrical drawings, fixtures and codes within the facility and working with engineering to establish requirements and improvements for all equipment.

Key responsibilities

  • Develop electrical drawings, fixtures, and code for new equipment within the facility using primarily LabView, PLC, and C#.
  • Work with external suppliers on new equipment to achieve a flawless product launch.
  • Work with the engineering team to establish requirements for new equipment, improvements to existing equipment, and acceptance criteria for both build and test.
  • Provide concepts, budget and timing estimates for new equipment and improvements.

What we’re looking for

  • Minimum 5 years Engineering experience made up of multi-year experience with industrial controls and automation design, preferably dealing with test equipment.
  • Extensive knowledge of LabVIEW and PLC systems in a testing environment.
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering: Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechatronics, and/or Electrical Engineering preferred.
  • Must be highly aware of, and willing to be certified in and adhere to, medium voltage and high voltage safety standards and procedures.

This position will adhere to Global Star Safety Program, including safety rules, practices and training as outlined in the BorgWarner TMD Safety Policy Manual, which includes the use of equipment, protective devices, or clothing that the employer requires. This individual will work in manners that stress the importance of preventing accidents and illnesses. He/she must take every precaution reasonable in the given circumstance for the protection of themselves and coworkers. In addition, he/she is responsible for reporting all injuries and/or possible dangerous situations, incidents, or occurrences to the immediate supervisor.
