Job Description

Controls Engineer, Archer Daniels Midland Company, Decatur, IL. Ensure full compliance with safety and other Environment, Health & Safety requirements; Work with and around voltages of 120VAC, understanding of analog and digital signals related to process controls; Provide support for planned, preventative, and/or predictive maintenance activities that support electrical and process control systems of the plant; Communicate job status and support requirements with co-workers; Ensure management and effective use of time while completing assigned tasks; Develop and troubleshoot software and hardware to communicate with process control systems from the field and operator interfaces; Develop process control systems that include personal and process safety as part of the overall control strategy and migrate existing legacy applications and Input/output to current Programmable Logic Controller platforms; Read and understand control schematic diagrams and flowcharts including Process Flow Diagrams and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams; Develop and adhere to written standards and support process applications based on those standards; Prepare and develop standards and control narratives for process control systems or applications. Available for on-call rotation for off-hours, holiday and weekend coverage.

40 hrs/week, Mon-Fri, 8:30 a.m. - 5:30 p.m.  

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelors degree, or foreign equivalent, in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a closely related field, plus three years of work experience in automation or a related field. Must have experience with/in each of the following:
 

  • Experience with designing, configuring, programing and developing applications and controller programming with Wonderware and RSlogix;
  • Experience with developing and troubleshooting applications with Rockwell PlantPAx distributed control system;
  • Experience with using Java, VB, VBA, VB.NET, C, or C# programming/scripting languages to work on controllers having Structure Text language (STL) programming and various control system application softwares;
  • Experience with writing and developing standards/control narratives for process control systems or applications;
  • Experience with analyzing and collecting the system requirements specifications to evaluate the operational and performance requirements for automation systems;
  • Experience with designing systems to support and improve plant automation and controls to boost production;
  • Experience with installing automation applications and inspecting electronic equipment and systems to ensure they meet safety standards and application regulations;
  • Experience with designing and developing process automation system networks and supporting automation engineering projects from planning to commissioning and start-up; and
  • Experience with developing P&ID Drawing and Control Narratives, User Requirement document preparation, and control philosophy for automation projects.
