The Controls Engineer is a key member of the Meritor’s Corporate Industrialization team. In this role, you will assist and support day to day tasks of and not limited to requirements gathering, technical proposals, design and development of equipment controls and MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) projects. The Controls Engineer will contribute to software/hardware architecture design, development of software/hardware applications, and integration into manufacturing processes and company-wide enterprise systems.
Job Responsibilities:
• Assists project controls engineers with technical advice and support using common engineering practices with new and existing equipment.
• Provides hands-on technical support and innovative engineering ideas.
• Assists with controls engineering related project plans by determining funding, BOM generation, and controls project planning
• Develops and supports interfaces for equipment communications with shop-floor tools and devices.
• Assists with electrical designs and programming within applicable standards to build new or modify existing production machines and systems.
• Has beginner/course level knowledge and is responsible for making changes to ladder logic and software including, but not limited to: Safety Systems, PLCs, HMIs, and Robotics.
• Gains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks.
• Monitors scope of project and the need for management attention.
• Abides and practices corporate and OSHA standards for electrical systems standardization
• Participates in MES/I-Gear/Aprisio projects and follows detailed design specifications.
• Continually gains knowledge and experience regarding equipment programmable logic controllers (PLCs), electrical schematics, robotics, MES systems, and other industrial controls systems.
QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in multiple functions such as manufacturing engineering, quality, and working in team environment is required.
• Course based knowledge of automation, PLCs, wiring diagrams and schematics, and other controls systems required.
• Understanding of course level electro-mechanical systems required.
