Position Summary

As a Manager in Deloitte Risk & Financial Advisory's Controllership Services practice, you will gain valuable hands-on experience working alongside leading professionals while building your professional skills in a variety of Accounting Information Science specialties, including financial/management accounting, data science, and digital technologies. Accounting Information Science is Deloitte's unique capability to expand business insights and automation through the innovative use of data, algorithms, and technology. 

You will be involved in developing data analysis plans, algorithm strategies, and designing/ implementing a variety of solutions that help clients address challenging business issues. You may also be exposed to other disciplines within Controllership Services, including Accounting Advisory and Profitability & Analytics.

Work you’ll do

You will analyze, manipulate, and manage data to deliver meaningful insights necessary to help companies of all sizes and across multiple industries address regulatory and business challenges. Sample Manager responsibilities include:

• Working with clients to understand business challenges and identify solutions to drive desired outcomes
• Leveraging Accounting Information Science (e.g., data and algorithms) to turn data into trusted business information
• Querying and analyzing small and large data sets to discover patterns and deliver meaningful insights
• Creating, managing, and utilizing structured and unstructured data stores
• Performing current state assessment of client accounting, data, and algorithm capabilities
• Leveraging tools to enable actionable decision making
• Developing system requirements, designing and prototyping, testing, training, defining support procedures and implementing with specific focus on SAP S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud, and Workday
• Focus accounting domain areas will include management/ cost accounting, intercompany accounting, consolidations accounting, accrual accounting, predictive accounting, and enterprise data modeling
• Mapping data flows and to identify optimal design and governance options as well as potential risks
• Developing business solutions leveraging emerging automation, cognitive, and machine learning tools.

Qualifications

Required:

• Undergraduate or master’s degree in one of the following majors with relevant business, technology, data and/or analytical focused coursework:

• Business: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Business Analytics
• Technology: Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Computer Science
• Math/Engineering: Computer Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Industrial Engineering
  • Strong communication, team building, teaming and presentation experience
  • 6+ years of technical or advisory-related experience in controllership, accounting, financial planning and analysis and cost accounting
  • Prior experience working with and managing data sets, including extraction and merges from source systems, transformation, and application of algorithms (basic to complex)
  • Experience in leading and developing teams
  • Experience in building finance and accounting models and using purpose-built solutions
  • Demonstrated problem solving and critical thinking skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects/ assignments/ responsibilities in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to travel 80%, on average, based on the work you do and the clients and industries/sectors you serve 
  • Limited visa sponsorship may be available

Preferred:

• • Master's degree in Business, Technology or Math/Engineering
  • Experience with packaged technologies (e.g., S/4HANA, Oracle Cloud, Workday, BlackLine, Workiva)
  • Project experience in areas such as process mapping, root cause/ gap analysis/ best fit, requirements gathering/ definition development, financial modeling and value mapping
  • Experience in developing product costing standards and product cost analytics
  • Experience with a variety of data transformation and algorithmic tools and programming languages such as, but not limited to:
    • Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, Mongo Db
    • CostPerform, Profitability and Performance Management (PaPM), SAP, Oracle, Hyperion, Anaplan
    • Languages (e.g., SQL, Java, JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, C#, C++, VBA, VB.Net, ASP.Net, HTML, SAS)
    • Reporting Tools (e.g., Business Objects, Reporting Services)
    • Big Data Tools (e.g., Hadoop, Hive, Pig, Impala, Mahout)
    • Machine Learning/Cognitive (e.g., Python, Mahout, CognitiveScale)
    • Predictive Analytics/Data Mining: (e.g., IBM SPSS, SAS Enterprise Miner, RPL, Python, Matlab)
    • Data Visualization Tools (e.g. QlikView, Tableau, Power Bi)
