Bechtel is on the Northrop Grumman Corp. team preparing to deliver the U.S. Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) system of inter-continental ballistic missiles and launch infrastructure. GBSD is a vital U.S. Air Force program designed to modernize the nation’s aging force of inter-continental ballistic missiles, which make up the ground element of the nuclear deterrent. As part of the Northrop Grumman GBSD nationwide team, Bechtel will provide launch system design, construction, and integration.

Position Overview:

This position is for a Control Systems Engineer who will prepare designs for systems associated with DOD and USAF projects. The successful candidate must have strong organizational and teamwork skills, proven problem-solving abilities, can-do attitude, and the desire to innovate designs. This role will specifically support the USAF Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) phase.

 

Responsibilities:

This role will support design development of systems and equipment for the GBSD program project by preparing studies, drawings, calculations, specifications, and evaluations, in accordance with applicable procedures, codes, standards, and contract requirements. Work with other technical disciplines in a team environment. 

Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: 

·      Develop design drawings.

·      Review of and input to P&IDs

·      Preparation of Logic diagrams, functional block diagrams, Instrument data sheets etc.

·      Prepare instrument index and I/O list using automated tools, vendor inputs and Bechtel input as applicable.

·      Develop equipment and material specifications.

·      Develop procurement documentation.

·      Design Building Information Modeling and coordination with other disciplines.

·      Review vendor submittals and integrate information into the design solution.

·      Execute to schedule requirements while maintaining a high degree of quality in work product.

·      Coordinate closely with other technical disciplines in planning and executing work as an integrated team.

Basic Qualifications:

·      BS degree in Electrical or Computer engineering from an accredited institution with 1 years of relevant experience; or 7 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

·      BS degree in Electrical or Computer engineering from an accredited institution with 3 years of relevant experience; or 9 years of relevant experience in lieu of degree.

·      US citizenship is required per contract requirement.

·      Possess active security clearance or ability to obtain security clearance.

Minimum Qualifications:

·      Relevant experience includes, but is not limited to, drawings, calculations, and specifications for systems and equipment on nuclear or industrial process facilities, data centers, central utility plants, or complex building systems.

·      Experience with Microsoft office programs, VISIO, and other common computer programs.

·      Excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).

·      Ability to utilize engineering and office automation tools effectively.

·      Extensive knowledge and application Codes and Standards.

·      Broad knowledge of the application of Control Systems engineering design principles.

·      Strong understanding of engineering drawings, data sheets and selection of instruments based on system application requirements.

·      Engineer in Training Certificate

 

 Preferred Qualifications:

·      Registered Professional Engineer in USA.

·      Knowledge of Bechtel Corporate guides and standards.

·      Experience working with procedures meeting quality assurance programs such as ISO-9000.

·      Experience working with cyber security

·      Experience working with design of secure facilities including SCIF, TEMPEST, and ICD-705 spaces

·      Prior experience working with government agencies, preferably the Department of Defense.

·      Experience executing engineering design with Revit.

·      Understanding of Mechanical and Process engineering discipline drawings and system calculations, as related to Control System design requirements.

·      Design experience including software development and cyber security as applied to control systems

·      Intermediate knowledge of developing CSI Masterformat specifications, or SpecsIntact.

·      Design experience with Unified Facilities Criteria and the Whole Building Design Guide.
