Project Overview

The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) will safely destroy 2,611 tons of mustard agent in mortar rounds and artillery projectiles stored at the U.S. Army Pueblo Chemical Depot (PCD) approximately 25 miles from Pueblo, Colorado. Neutralization followed by biotreatment is the technology selected by the Department of Defense to destroy the Pueblo chemical weapons stockpile. The PCAPP plant began the operations and munition destruction phase as of September 2016.  

 

Candidates for unescorted access to the Chemical Limited Area must successfully clear National Agency Check with Local Check (NACLC). All employees are subject and agree to random drug and alcohol testing as a condition of employment. Must be physically fit and able to work safely at an operating plant. Eligible applicants must be a US Citizen and successfully go through a government screening process. Based on project goals and objectives, candidates established within our local community are desirable.

 

Position Summary

The Pueblo Chemical Agent-Destruction Pilot Plant (PCAPP) is looking for a Senior Control Systems Engineer – Automation Lead at the Pueblo, CO location. This position will report to the Automation Supervisor at the PCAPP project. Senior Controls Systems Engineer reviews and coordinates documents with suppliers, other disciplines and customers. Coordinates technical issues with Startup & Commissioning and provides assistance to Construction in the field. Proficient with basic engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications, and Distributed Control System (DCS)/ Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configurations. Proficient with the development of Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) and the development of Control Strategies. Proficient with process control algorithms and proficient with DCS/PLC database programs. Knowledgeable of major regulations and industry codes and standards applicable to instrumentation and controls. Properly interprets and applies codes & standards and customer design requirements in the preparation of Control Systems design products.

This is a long-term assignment and this position will operate on a DuPont shift based working schedule (up to 12 hours at a time, rotating day and night shifts).

 

Responsibilities

Review Piping & Instrument Diagrams and Logic Diagrams for control and instrumentation software requirements

Prepare configuration documents to implement the software requirements, and conduct test plans to validate implemented software

Contributes to maintaining the project’s instrument database using automated tools and has knowledge of the applicability of information to be populated in the instrument database

Achieves work process improvement and promotes continuous work process improvement

Champions nonproprietary electronic data interchange and integrate automation technology wherever practical

Demonstrates leadership qualities with emphasis on continuous improvement and team building, and interpersonal communication skills

 

Qualifications and Skills

Level 1

BS degree in one of the following: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer or Electro-Mech engineering from an accredited institution with at least 6 years of relevant engineering experience

In lieu of a degree, must possess at least 12 years of relevant engineering experience

Must be a US citizen (Dual citizenship will be subjected to project’s approval).

Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety) *

Must be able to obtain an EIT or PE Certification within 12 months of hire

 

Level 2

BS degree in one of the following: Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical, Computer or Electro-Mech engineering from an accredited institution with at least 9 years of relevant engineering experience

In lieu of a degree, must possess at least 15 years of relevant engineering experience

Must be a US citizen (Dual citizenship will be subjected to project’s approval).

Must be able to obtain and maintain any security clearances required for this position according to Army Regulation 50-6 (Chemical Surety) *

Must be able to obtain an EIT or PE Certification within 12 months of hire

 

Minimum Qualifications

Must be physically fit and able to work safely at a construction site

Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) configurations experience along with experience integrating PLCs into a DCS system

Working knowledge of VISIO CADD and/or PDS 2D

 

Preferred Qualifications

Programming experience in Honeywell C300 Controllers and Honeywell HMI graphics, Rockwell RS 5000 logic Controllers, and OPC programming.

ISA 84 Safety Systems design experience

Experience with Agent Monitoring, Electronic Security and operations Closed-Circuit TV (CCTV) systems
