Position Overview:
Position will report to the Sr. Manager, SCT, Contract Management
The Contract Manager will be primarily responsible for providing a diverse range of contract review, negotiation and management support and will draw upon advanced training to make sound decisions when analyzing, preparing, negotiating, and revising contracts, as well as identifying potential risks to BMS and coordinating SCT attorney review, as needed, in accordance with BMS policies and requirements. The Contract Manager will also assist with the development of contracting guidance and reference materials for Contract Facilitators, and other stakeholders, and provide expert contract Facilitation for certain complex transactions.
Responsibilities:
Support enterprise-wide contract process and management activities and enforce organizational principles of integrity and compliance.
Provide first-line review of third-party redlines from various Facilitators for contracts of varying complexity with minimal supervision, in accordance with established negotiation parameters and attorney guidance.
Ensure accuracy and appropriateness of contract provisions, riders and other attachments.
Provide Contract Management guidance to Strategic Sourcing and Procurement, and other contracting stakeholders during contract review, negotiation and execution.
Engage internal stakeholders in negotiation decisions and incorporate into contracts all input received from various internal departments, SMEs, and business stakeholders.
Partner with SCT Legal to draft contractual provisions based on strategy discussions, business needs and expectations.
Maintain deadlines on deliverables and proactive communication of contract status to SCT Legal and internal clients.
Develop and maintain fallback guides and other internal guidance documents for the SCT, as well as Contract Facilitators.
Project management and operational support for various contracting initiatives, including SCT-driven template maintenance and updates.
Collaborate closely with Contract Policy & Infrastructure on projects related to template governance and rationalization.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree required.
3-5 years prior work experience in contract management at a large company or contracts service provider.
Experience in the pharmaceutical industry is a strong plus.
Strong understanding of key contract provisions and ability to review redlines.
Experience in applying organizational standards when drafting contracts and negotiating terms.
Ability to systematically analyze complex problems, draw relevant conclusions and implement appropriate solutions.
Demonstrated ability to meet aggressive deadlines and complete multiple assignments in a timely and professional manner.
Outstanding written and verbal communication skills with a strong client focus, and comprehensive understanding of contracts and ability to convey complex information in a way that others can readily follow.
Excellent negotiating and persuasive skills, both in one-on-one and group situations.
Ability to listen to and understand internal client needs, communicate cross functionally with confidence and diplomacy.
Strong character and ethics; attention to detail and ability to self-prioritize work on an ongoing basis.
Proven time management skills and the ability to handle situational pressures.
Ability to sustain high levels of performance in a constantly changing environment.
