Job Description

The ELS Project Leader is the Lean/Six Sigma expert who uses the tools of Lean/Six Sigma to find opportunities to improve business results.

Primary Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential functions may include, but are not limited to: 

  • Analyze manufacturing and supply chain processes to identify activities that will eliminate non-value added activities.

  • Create and/or improve processes that add more value to our customers.

  • Independently implement projects and sustain results using Lean and Six Sigma tools and methods.

  • Track and regularly report on key production and continuous improvement metrics.

  • Be a change agent.

  • Challenge old ways of doing business and implement breakthrough improvements.

  • Identify and remove organizational barriers to continuous improvement processes.

  • Motivate others to accept process changes and encourage ownership and accountability.

  • Share best practices across business units, production sites, and support functions.

  • Develop in-depth understanding of Avery Dennison’ s ELS philosophy and methods. Demonstrate through successful training and certification in these areas.

  • Train and educate others in the organization on Lean/ Six Sigma principles.

  • Coordinate, facilitate, manage and document continuous improvement activities and results. 

  • Capable of presenting projects and results to all levels of management.    

  • Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree (preferably in a technical field)

  • Ability to be self-driven and lead projects with little supervision

  • 2+ years technical and/or manufacturing experience.

  • Demonstrated experience in Lean and/or Six Sigma. Green Belt level certification/training with relevant project experience is preferred.

  • Solid understanding of business metrics and customer value.

  • Proven leadership skills: able to coach, influence, and motivate others.

  • High energy, passion for excellence, bias for action. Demonstrated ability to effectively lead and sustain change.

  • Effective oral and written communication skills; ability to effectively present complex topics in a concise manner.

  • Effective interpersonal skills dealing with people at various levels and in a variety of functions.

  • Strong quantitative and analytical capability. A background in statistical methods is a plus.

  • Strong knowledge and ability to use lean and six sigma tools

  • Ability to define problems, document the current state, analyze data to draw conclusions, and implement solutions
