Advanced Systems Group (ASG) is a newly formed stand-alone division of Brunswick, the world’s largest recreational marine business.  We are seeking a Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team in Flippin, AR.

If good is never good enough for you, ASG shares your passion for perfection.  The Continuous Improvement Engineer is an integral role in helping us drive operational excellence leading Kaizen projects, quality improvements and cultural change. You will be responsible for the development and execution of best-in-class processes utilizing tools to help analyze, control, and minimize product and process variation across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Achieve assembly times that meet or exceed routing time emanating from Boothroyd/Dewhurst (or similar) should-cost modeling
  • Must possess strong knowledge of Lean product flow and process development as related to all aspects of production from order receipt through delivery.
  • Must possess strong working knowledge of Six Sigma principles/methods including Statistical Process Control, Capability Analysis, and A3 problem solving tools.
  • Ability to develop and maintain tools to calculate/validate capacities, takt time, cycle time, defects, COPQ, histograms, controls charts and line balance studies.
  • Leverage data analytics to make strategic and tactical business decisions
  • Lead and manage six sigma project portfolios to accomplish measurable business improvement.
  • Employ Six Sigma and Lean methodology and analytics into organizational operation as part of organizational goal deployment.
  • Lead cross functional teams that deliver sustained improvement to critical manufacturing and transactional processes.
  • Troubleshoots particularly complex or troublesome processes and/or production problems. e.g., manufacturing, assembly process variation.
  • Must act as cross functional coach, as well as facilitator to gain buy-in, resolve conflict and deliver results while challenging conventional thinking.
  • Ability to act as an inclusive leader with humility and an openness to diverse ideas and input
  • Lead and/or support formal problem-solving teams including completion of Corrective Action requests and Kaizen workshops.
  • Maintain a relentless focus on removing waste to add capacity to our business to make room for growth.
  • Lead cross functional teams that continually review manufacturing operations to define and improve inefficiencies and ergonomic improvement opportunities.
  • Perform data collection activities to create and maintain cycle time and line balance studies of new and existing product lines to support distribution and production performance analysis and continuous improvement activities

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Engineering, Operations Management, Quality Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related discipline, relevant work experience may be considered
  • Minimum of 3+ years in a manufacturing environment
  • Problem solving utilizing both a data driven and a “hands on” approach
  • Utilizing failure mode analysis, design validation and process control tools to drive quality from launch through full production
  • Applying statistical analysis tools to manage warranty and quality performance
  • Project Management experience

Skill Requirements:

  • Proficient knowledge of PC software including the latest Windows software applications.
  • Working knowledge of blueprint and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Knowledge of pertinent manufacturing and assembly techniques.
  • Verbal, written and computer graphic communication skills necessary to effectively present data and information to internal and external customers, including management and engineering.
  • Thorough knowledge of inspection techniques, metrology methods, tolerances, blueprint reading, routings, SPC techniques, personal computers and general shop practices.
  • Excellent organizational and follow-up skills.
  • Ability to reason through problems and suggest workable solutions.
  • Ability to guide supervision in making proper decisions relative to product and process control issues.
  • Ability to perform duties independently, consulting supervisor as needed.
  • Ability to be flexible and able to control diverse priorities and assignments.
