About the Team:

As part of O2’s mission to provide brilliant service experiences, we are taking the existing Configuration Management function to the next level.  We require a leader who not only can spearhead our in-train migration to a new tool, but to build the CM strategy for the future. 

Configuration management is an integral part of the Data Insights function, which enables the Service Management team to understand the customer experience and how to improve it.  The whole team, and this role in particular, incorporate priorities from a wide range of stakeholders, to design solutions.

Your Role:

The Configuration Manager role is key to the future success of ITSM within the organisation. The existing process is midway through a transformation programme; continuing  success will require the Configuration Manager to work with project teams to deliver the additional capabilities that this will unlock for the organisation – both tool-based (BMC Discovery/Truesight), and strategic (top to bottom service modelling).

Responsibilities:

• Own the Configuration Management Policy, process, procedures, data models and tools.
• Exploit Configuration Management tools strategically, supporting stakeholders in key initiatives like automation and insight production.
• Deliver Service Modelling that centres the CM data around assets, services, processes and products around services – and then uses these principles to measure performance, control costs, and enable better capacity management.
• Ensure that a strong Data Governance process is in place that provides evidence of data quality and the ongoing drive for improvements.
• Manage stakeholders effectively across a wide set of data owners, process owners, data consumers and support teams.

Skills & experience:

Essential

• Proven understanding of ITILv3 – in particular Service Asset Configuration Management.
• Experience of BMC products such as Atrium, Discovery, Truesight, Remedy.
• Experience of working with IT infrastructure, Cloud and Virtualised Infrastructure and Radio/Telecoms.
• Proven Data Management ability and good understanding of key concepts.
• Stakeholder Management experience.

Desirable

• Able to work with analytics tools such as MicroStrategy/Tableau etc. Ability to use SQL and an experienced Excel user.
• Experience of delivering Service Modelling in a complex environment.
• Familiarity with ISO27001.

Additional Information:

• The CMDB Librarians are a managed service provided by a third party supplier and a close working relationship with the supplier is required. The team is a combination of on-shore and off-shore resource.

Occasional travel to O2 offices will be required (e.g., Slough, London, Northampton, Preston Brook, Leeds)

Grade: MPG4/Level 4

Location: Slough or Reading preferred but flexible around other sites
