Job Description
Overview
The Computer Operator is responsible for operating and supporting computer systems, and related peripheral equipment including the host computers that run applications, in addition to the other operational tools, software, and computer devices. Providing direct operational services and assistance to users company-wide.
Primary Responsibilities
- Verify turnover between shifts is properly covered
- Maintain daily communication and updates with other operators
- Follow up on all special requests from other divisions
- Responsible for normal completion of all backups across all systems during all three shifts
- Maintain daily interaction with the Midrange System Group
- Perform Save and Restore on Demand
- Perform daily and weekly backup
- Oversee the Data/File Transfer
- Monitor Systems both AS400 and Network
- Wide Area Network (WAN) Communications, AS400 systems across the country monitor replication software between source and target locations report distribution
- Install program temporary fix (PTFs) and system IPLs
- Oversee AS400 hardware upgrades
- Publish daily activity and problem logs
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Additional Primary Responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalency plus 1 year of experience
- Knowledge with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), federal regulatory guidelines, and organizational objectives
- Proficiency using Microsoft Excel spreadsheets in creating pivot tables, developing charts, and complex formulas
- Excellent accuracy and attention to detail skills to process large numbers of invoices
- Knowledge of other MS Office Suite and/or software applications related to job functions
- Knowledge in database administration, and industry trends, and best practices
- Knowledge on how to set up and run the system from a technical standpoint, the ability to understand the business question and translate that business question into analytics, as well as the ability to understand and consume the results
Physical Demands
- Physical demands include a considerable amount of time sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding machine
- Physical demands with activity or condition may occasionally include walking, bending, reaching, standing, and stooping
- May require occasional lifting/lowering, pushing, carrying, or pulling up to 20lbs
