Job Description

Job Summary:

Design and build the digital destinations that connect audiences around the world with Disney Parks, Experiences and Products. Every week is different as you collaborate with editorial, creative, and technology teams to create a magical user experience and accessible content across websites, mobile, digital signage, social, email, and more. Bring your creativity and expertise to support everything from major business announcements and global engagement campaigns to new content platforms.

As the Communications Technology Specialist, you will wear multiple hats as a full-stack designer (UX/UI/HTML/CSS), project manager, and consultant. You will report to the Manager of Communications Technology as part of a specialized team of digital experts amplifying the impact of PR, Public Affairs, and Internal Communications.

This role is the perfect opportunity to combine your passions for Disney, digital inclusion, and UX/UI design. Your portfolio, skillset, and network will grow as you work across the business to help Disney reimagine the future of external and internal communications. This is a hybrid role with offices at Walt Disney World in Orlando, providing you the flexible scheduling to work both remotely and on-site to stay connected to the magic.

Responsibilities:

  • Design: Create a magical and inclusive user experience across Communications by translating Disney design frameworks and digital accessibility best practices into wireframes, high-fidelity comps, prototypes, and front-end HTML for a variety of digital platforms and products. Work with developers and technology partners to implement and validate designs.
  • Build: Lead project teams or guide content owners in building digital communications, including WordPress websites and HTML emails. For select projects, independently handle content build-out and management.
  • Adapt: Continuously grow your knowledge of the global business and stay flexible to deliver on new Communications priorities, including confidential and time-sensitive projects.
  • Empower: Build and maintain reusable content templates and building blocks in content creation tools.
  • Support: Guide content owners and creators in effective digital communications via project consultation, training, and documentation.
  • Innovate: Research new standards, design frameworks, and products as technology evolves to provide forward-thinking solutions.
  • Imagine: As a member of the larger DPEP Content Creation and Digital Integration team, be part of the team dreaming up and pitching new ways to engage audiences.

Basic Qualifications:

  • An online portfolio of digital design and production.
  • 3+ years’ experience in web design.
  • Expertise with industry-standard design and prototyping applications, such as Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, Sketch, InVision, or Figma.
  • Expertise building and editing HTML and CSS.
  • Fluency with Adobe Creative Cloud applications for media editing and optimization, including Photoshop, Illustrator, and Media Encoder.
  • Passion for digital accessibility and inclusion (WCAG, WAI-ARIA, ADA, multi-language)
  • Flexible, organized, and motivated to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Passion for the brands and offerings of Disney Parks, Experiences and Products.
  • Experience incorporating internal style guides or design frameworks into digital content or platforms.
  • Experience building and managing sites on WordPress CMS.
  • Understanding of website performance, analytics, and SEO.
  • Written proficiency in one or more languages in addition to English, such as Spanish, Haitian Creole, or French.
  • Familiarity with existing Disney external communication platforms, including DPEP.disney.com, disneyconnect.com/Disney World, Disney Newsrooms, Disney Park Blog, etc.
  • Familiarity with existing Disney internal communication platforms, including HUB, Cast Life, CastTV, Inside Disney, etc.
