Job Summary:

The DMED Communications team is seeking a Communications Specialist who will work collaboratively within a team to provide support for the DMED Technology organization, while also working operationalize the coordination and organization of work, compile and edit reports, and support internal and external communication initiatives.

We are looking for an organized and energetic Communications professional, who is equal parts project manager and storyteller. The ideal candidate is early in their career and passionate about the intersection of technology, media and sports. They will have a “no job too big or too small” mentality, be detail oriented and organized, and be highly collaborative, curious, eager to learn and persistent in bringing ideas to the table. The Communications Specialist will support a broad range of communications activities including, but not limited to: writing internal and external communication materials; coordinating information for team reports, helping develop and execute team processes, timelines and tools; periodic external media relations engagement, support of internal communications initiatives, support of internal and external events and more.

Responsibilities:

  • Support Communications efforts for key function groups in DMED Technology, including internal and external communications initiatives, compiling and editing reports, editorial and awards calendars, industry and competitive news event monitoring, newsletters, press lists and reporter profiles, event logistics, special projects.
  • Drafting and editing internal and external Communications materials for multiple uses (intranet posts, press releases and alerts, internal reports, awards submissions, etc).
  • Assist Sr. Manager, Communications and other members of team with special projects
  • Assist in the publishing of content to both employee-facing and press-facing (public) DMED, DMED Technology and ESPN platforms.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Minimum 1-2 year experience in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or Project Management related field (PR agency experience a potential plus).
  • Highly organized, with project management interest and experience
  • Strong relationship building and time management skills
  • Able to work independently but confident enough to ask for guidance and input when needed
  • Excellent writing, verbal and interpersonal communication skills working with colleagues across departments at all levels
  • Team-focused, with an ability to take direction from multiple stakeholders, effectively and efficiently multi-task, prioritize deadlines and effectively work in a fast-paced environment
  • Enthusiastic, proactive, eager to learn, share ideas and willing to take on new challenges
  • Can-do attitude and a willingness to pitch in and help the team on all projects to meet critical deadlines
  • Passionate about developing new ideas, designing solutions and helping teams succeed
  • Proficient in Word, Microsoft Office and Outlook
  • Ability to manage confidential information
  • Skilled in internal communications projects that demonstrates skills, mastery of grammar rules and ability to adapt tone/style to a variety of audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • A passion for technology and experience working in Communications supporting Technology organizations or initiatives.
  • Experience writing and editing press materials, internal communications materials and helping develop talking points.
  • Experience in identifying technology narratives and stories for both internal and external audiences.
  • Experience developing, writing and editing reports and helping bring/manage structure & organization to a team.
  • Event planning or coordination a plus

Required Education

  • BA or BS required, preferably with a background in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism or related field

This role is considered hybrid, which means the employee will work a portion of their time on-site from a Company designated location and the remainder of their time remotely.
