UNDP InfoSegura is a regional project specialized in strengthening institutional capacities for the management of information on citizen security that has been working in Central America and the Dominican Republic since 2014, with the support of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID). In coordination with the country offices, strategic and technical support is provided to develop and improve data production, multidimensional analysis, use of information in public policy and strategic communication. This work is provided in three main lines of services: strengthening institutional architectures for the management of information on citizen security with a gender and human rights perspective; implementation of new technologies and innovation in processes and services; and strategic communication with knowledge products, all three dimensions of acceleration for the fulfillment of the 2030 agenda.
UNDP-InfoSegura has built on the experience and presence of UNDP/RBLAC in the region, achieving support and partnership with the main institutions of the State and civil society focused on the prevention and attention to violence and insecurity. Efforts have been articulated with the ministries and institutional technicians in charge of information management in the countries (national police, judicial agencies, public ministries and prosecutors' offices, forensic medicine, observatories, inter-institutional coordination groups and centers of analysis on security and coexistence).
Hence, on the regional Annual work plan a strong implementation of the corporate Communications, Knowledge Management, and Dissemination Strategy in the countries of the project, through regional campaigns, web portals, data dissemination, social networks, opinion, blogging, investigation agenda and training agenda, among others, to provide technical assistance to other country offices and regional teams, and counterparts to settle evidence based policy approach in their results and development strategies on citizen security and justice.
Scope of Work
• The Communications Analyst is responsible for performing and contributing to the following:
• Support the formulation and implementation of internal and external communications and advocacy strategies, supports business development
• Provide support in communications issues to the regional project regarding the coordination and organization of webinars, meetings, and discussions.
• Support the preparation of background materials, agendas, concept notes and meeting reports for meetings with partners and Country Offices from a communications approach.
• Under the guidance of the Regional InfoSegura coordinator, support the identification, research, and analysis of data on specific gender issues for communications purposes.
• Provision of inputs and draft of the communications strategy of the regional project.
• Support project and programme implementation
• Preparation of communication products, including blogs, press releases and newsletters.
• Assist in logistical organization of webinars, trainings, and workshops.
• Assistance to the InfoSegura team with social networks, including the production of live transmissions, as well as social platforms (such as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, etc.).
• Coordinate with the communication teams of the Regional Hub, RBLAC and the global level, as well as with the communication’s focal points at country level.
• Develop mini communication campaigns for the Knowledge management agenda, investigation and training agenda or any other significant events, including key messages, media package, materials for social media, etc.
• Knowledge Management
• Contribute to the review of knowledge products (publications, blogs, press releases, opinion editorials, etc.) in close coordination with other members of country offices and project regional team, ensuring that the corporative guides on communication are met.
• Collect news, stories of change and lessons learned from the contributions on evidence-based policy of the project, for internal and external UNDP newsletters and media.
• Ensure that the UNDP-InfoSegura website and the formation/innovation section of the UNDP website are kept up to date, as also the coordination to keep feeding CONOSE websites and portals of open-based information.
Institutional Arrangement
• The Communications Analyst will work under the overall guidance and the direct supervision of the Project Coordination Specialist and the Regional Coordinator of the Project.

Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum education requirements
• Masters’ degree in Media Relations, Journalism, Publishing, or other related fields, or
• Bachelor’s degree in above disciplines with additional two years of relevant professional experience may also be considered
Minimum years of relevant work experience
Master’s degree with no experience or bachelor’s degree with two years of recent professional work experience in public relations, communications, or advocacy, at the national or international level.
Required skills
• Experience in implementation of regional campaigns, web portals, data dissemination, social networks, opinion, blogging, investigation agenda and training agenda.
• Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.);
• Experience in handling web-based management systems.
Desired skills in addition to the competencies covered in the Competencies section
• Knowledge of the UN’s procedures and communications guidelines is an asset.
Required Language(s)
• Fluency in Spanish and English, both oral and written
Travel
• Travel to support country offices if required will be covered by the Regional Project InfoSegura.
