Role purpose:

 

Reporting to the Head of Business and Commercial Operations, this is an important role in supporting sales effectiveness and profitability within Market Development. Market Development sits within Virgin Media O2 Business and is the team responsible for driving growth to the organisation by establishing new and digital-first revenue streams from high-growth markets like 5G, IoT, Data Analytics and Artificial Intelligence. The purpose of the Pricing and Deals Financials Lead role is to provide commercial finance support to the Products and Sales teams for deals-specific requirements, more specifically around deals financials and specific deal pricing. The role will also oversee all pricing reviews across teams and ensure there is effective governance in place to support deals management. The successful candidate will be responsible for financial and commercial control for customer proposals ensuring the optimum trade-off between win rate and business returns and for delivering excellent finance input and leadership into bid proposals, products and solutions.

 

Key responsibilities & accountabilities:

 

  • Acting as the right hand to Head of Sales, the Product Areas and Commercial Operations by providing financial and decision support and owning forecasting and analytical models specific to accelerate deals.
  • Own the identification, assessment & measurement of risk for each deal.
  • Ensure commercial insight (based on other internal deals or previous experience) is applied to each deal project.
  • Lead the financial modelling of deal scenarios to support sales and bid teams in order to protect the existing business against competitive bids and acquire new customers
  • Challenge the sales team to gain the right balance between customer needs and the need to deliver and exceed the Market Development budget.
  • Ownership of Financial representation at Customer Meetings and Sales Team meetings.
  • Ownership of pricing strategies and reviews across Market Development team supporting the Head of Business and Commercial Operations to make informed decisions on standard product pricing and customer-specific pricing and commercial conditions.

 

Essential skills, knowledge, or experience:

 

  • Ability to build strong cross-functional relationships and to work under pressure with different teams.
  • Strategic thinker, analytical, and highly numerical with strong commercial and financial awareness and attention to detail.
  • Experience in customer-facing roles.
  • Skilled at distilling complex plans and information down to clear and impactful messages.
  • High impact self-starting individual, resourceful, solution, and process-driven.
  • Resilient flexible approach to modifying best-laid plans based on external stimuli.
  • Strong pricing and financial experience. Accountancy background or training desirable.
  • Understanding of market research and data analysis.
  • Desirable experience working in fast-paced environments.
  • Desirable knowledge and understanding of the broader Telecoms, Technology, and digital services space.
