Occupational health is a specialist branch of medicine focusing on the health of staff in the workplace. The NCA has a team of OH professionals, which are a mixture of permanent NCA Psychologists and contractors through our OH provider. The aim of OH is to find out what impact work has on our officers health and make sure that officers are fit to undertake the role they are employed to do, both physically and emotionally.
To provide practical and clinical support to National Crime Agency (NCA) Officers on matters relating to wellbeing, occupational and mental health via a range of mediums such as therapeutic interventions, psychoeducational workshops, articles, network management and support. Co-manage and lead the NCA’s Mental Health First Aid Network.
Candidates need to have at least 3 years post qualifying experience, be able to apply best practice methods and develop, bespoke time limited interventions. You will be able to write and deliver psycho-educational workshops and experiential sessions such as mindfulness, relating to wellbeing and mental health and write articles for dissemination internally including those with a self-help focus.

Key responsibilities of the role include:
• Co-management and leadership of the agency’s Mental Health First Aid Network. This will involve elements such as supporting members of the network with the requirements of their role, organising and managing the network whilst providing clinical support.
• Provision of psychological support post incident as required using best practice protocols, such as defusing, EMDR, CBT, Rewind technique and talking therapies.
• Support in the delivery of the People Plan and the Health and Wellbeing Strategy.
• Working as part of a dedicated team, in conjunction with other medical professionals, to ensure that the medical and psychological requirements of a diverse workforce of approximately 4,500 officers are met.
A flexible approach is required, as there may be travel within the role depending upon business need as appropriate. Where possible this is planned in advance.

If you are an active police pension member immediately prior to joining the NCA, you can continue your membership throughout your employment with us as if you were a serving police officer. If you do remain an active member and subsequently return to a police force, you should be able to continue your membership there too.
