As a Coating operator you will be assigned to work on a coating line. You may work in one or more work stations, including the face unwind, liner unwind, mixer, main console/winder and PMA lab. You may be proficient on more than one coating asset in a given location. You will be responsible for daily operation, supporting machine set ups and changeovers, problem-solving or conducting preventative maintenance (PMs). This role is for night shift (7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.) on a 2-2-3 schedule.
In this important role, you will also be responsible for:
Ensure compliance with all environmental, health and safety procedures, policies, and practices.
Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to all safety polices. Identify and escalate safety issues immediately. Support safety improvement initiatives.
Loading raw material into the machine and unloading finished product.
Determining and controlling the machine cycle, varying and modifying as necessary.
Performing tests and checking product routinely for multiple characteristics, using standard measuring devices and making some judgments against standards that are not readily measurable.
Meeting production schedules and programming production sequences for optimal productivity.
Following standard operating procedures and specifications or instructions of higher level technical personnel. Monitoring meters, gauges, valves, flow ratios, temperatures, pressures and related controls and guidelines to ensure adherence to production/process specifications.
Maintain accurate production records and logs of equipment and product performance.
Participate in group problem-solving teams and other continuous improvement activities. Support ELS initiatives to improve manufacturing performance (throughput, scrap reduction, safety, ISO work instructions, ELS
Teamwork: Assisting and supporting other team members in meeting department and site goals. Participating and sharing in performing all tasks necessary to run the facility. Contributing and participating in team decision making. Providing support in project work and other special requests. Train other employees on the duties of a coating operator as required.
Maintain compliance with personal training record.
Accountable for daily production maintenance, preventative maintenance and housekeeping tasks according to established standards.
Perform all other duties assigned by Supervisor.
Essential:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Regard safety as a core value; serving as role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures.
Strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and taking initiative to understand root cause, then communicate / educate the team in a timely manner.
Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests.
Proficiency with computer applications.
