CNC Programmer


 

Precision Planting is a leading provider of planting and harvest technology in the Precision Ag Industry. We design innovative products that solve yield-robbing issues for farmers.  We are seeking a highly motivated and talented individual to join us as a CNC Programmer.  In this fast-paced role, you will be a part of the Research and Development team at Precision Planting where you will be responsible for the start to finish process of turning 3D models into functional machined prototypes.  The CNC programmer will be empowered to determine the best process, order materials, program tool path from 3D models, and operate CNC machines to manufacture cutting edge prototype parts, enabling our engineering team to test prototypes within days or sometimes within hours of design completion.

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Uses safe practices and works to maintain a safe and organized working environment

  • Participates in design reviews related to manufacturability

  • Translates 3D models into working machine toolpath

  • Designs creative solutions for tooling and fixturing to maximize efficiency and productivity

  • May instruct others to operate both CNC and manual machines

  • Interacts with tool suppliers.

  • Recommends purchase of new tooling and /or new technology for the company\'s applications

  • Collaborates and works well with a team of employees at all levels. 

 

Required Skills/Experience

  • Comprehensive understanding of various machine control systems

  • Familiarity and ability to read and interpret blueprints

  • Strong machining experience with manual mills, lathes, grinders, etc.

 

Desired Skills/Experience

  • 3+ years of relevant experience in CAD/CAM programming and CNC manufacturing

  • Experience with Fusion 360

  • Experience with HAAS and Siemens controllers

  • Knowledge of various lathe and mill tooling

  • Knowledge of materials as it relates to machinability

  • Fabrication and welding experience

  • Agricultural product knowledge
