Job Description

The Marketing Communications Manager role combines strong business thinking, seasoned marketing leadership with marketing automation experience, digital marketing competency and the ability to masterfully leverage global programs in your Area.

The Central Marketing Organization (CMO) is anchored around a shared purpose for Customer Centricity, Marketing Thought Leadership, and Marketing and Sales Alignment. CMO accelerates the Area growth agenda through integrated marketing campaigns that delight our customers and partners and create Microsoft fans. CMO leverages deep functional and business expertise to deliver superior customer experiences through connected customer journeys and data driven storytelling. CMO builds strategic partnerships across Corp HQ and the Area to drive a digitally transformed, connected go-to-market.
Marketing Communications Manager drives integrated marketing planning, execution, and optimization driving new lead generation, nurture and consumption as prioritized by the Business Group (BG) and Sales and aligned to sales and marketing plays for our Azure, Modern Workplace, Biz Apps, and Industry solutions.
 
As a strong advocate for connected sales and marketing, you lead the connection with our internal Sales teams (Enterprise and Small, Medium, and Corporate (SMC)) and drive integration and alignment with the Partner team (OCP). You drive your Area and team to smartly maximize local marketing investments by fully exploiting all global content and marketing services, and augmenting local work aligned to global strategies. You are the key local point of contact for the Corporate demand generation team and responsible for landing and evangelizing the global marketing strategy locally, as well as providing local feedback and insights on landing.
You will also lead engagement with CMO Shared Services in Experiential, Social Marketing, and Data & Insights to align local executions across all marketing channels and ensure all activities are set up properly in our tools and systems to enable tracking, reporting and local optimization.
 
The ideal candidate is a strong performance marketer.  You will demonstrate and model for your team, deep understanding of marketing insights dashboards and surface opportunities, drive marketing planning decisions with local stakeholders and lead connected sales and marketing discussions with Sales.  You have a strong customer focus with a drive to deliver the best solutions for our customers.  You enjoy being continually challenged in a multifaceted, matrixed, and constantly evolving environment.

Responsibilities

Deliver marketing impact against key business goal by acquiring and nurturing leads and supporting consumption

  • Lead the development and execution of integrated marketing plan to deliver BG and Sales priorities
  • Ensure orchestration between all Solution Area and Segment plans and optimization across all audiences and plans
  • Leverage and localize global programs, positioning, messaging, and content. Provide local feedback and insights to Corporate stakeholders.
  • Continually optimize performance across the marketing mix and deliver insights and opportunities to Sales and, Business Groups (BGs)


 
Drive connections across key stakeholders to increase impact

  • Own relationship and drive governance with Sales Leadership, Business Groups and OCP organization.
  • Partner closely with CMO Shared Services (Events and Social) to land execution across our paid, earned, and owned channels.
  • Work with our Partner Organization to align marketing activities and incorporate relevant partner solutions into plans.
  • Ongoing engagement with Sales to create and surface opportunities and support Sales objectives across all Solution Areas


Lead executional Excellence and alignment to global processes and compliance

  • Model behaviors regularly leveraging global marketing insights data to inform marketing planning and optimization and sales opportunities.
  • Ensure all Solution Area plans align to modern marketing platforms and processes. Leverage global leading practices.
  • 100% budget utilization - Effective and accurate forecasting and spend of marketing budgets.
  • Lead Microsoft brand stewardship, ensure GDPR compliance and adhere to Microsoft Accessibility Standards and Diversity and Inclusion principles in all executions.

Qualifications

  • Proven and relevant Marketing management experience in technology.
  • Strong understanding of and appreciation for marketing automation concepts, marketing operations and integrated marketing, including strategic digital marketing.
  • Strong analytical capabilities to measure business performance and ability to quickly make smart business tradeoffs.
  • Connected sales and marketing experience. Strong understanding of sales priorities and motivations and ability to advocate for marketing in conversations with sales organizations to ensure optimal customer experiences and success. Exceptional skill in exerting influence and impact with executives and senior leaders in the company.
  • Proven experience in dealing with strategic, complex issues, and challenges in a highly matrixed organization. Experience working at a large global multi-national is a positive. Strong leadership presence with sales leaders a must. Exhibit high degree of professional objectivity and awareness, executive maturity and presence, strong listening skills, perspective, and sense of humor.
  • Highly motivated, results-driven forward thinker who enjoys change management leadership, marketing and sales operations fundamentals. Ideal candidate learns fast, reacts in real-time, and moves with agility to respond to changing conditions, bringing both marketing and sales teams along on our transformational journey.
  • Bachelor’s degree (B.S./B.A.) or equivalent work experience required; MBA degree preferred but not required.
