The role is to manage the analytics and BI services on Vodafones Data Ocean hosted on Google cloud . This platform will eventually support 11 countries and group services. As part of a strategic move into cloud Vodafone has decided to migrate all its analytics and BI data into Google cloud . These are strategic programmes which are underway and will complete in the next 3 years. The role encompasses :-
1. Service management and operations for analytics and business intelligence platforms on Google cloud
2. End to End Service management of Data Pipelines from Source systems in local markets to Data Ocean on GCP
3. Service management of analytics platforms and supporting services
4. Continuous improvement by using automation and introducing Site reliability and Devops approaches
The candidate needs to have a strong foundation of managing Data movement , Enterprise Data Warehouse solutions but also how to transform a traditional operational model to replace manual activities by putting in place higher levels of pre-release quality controls , telemetry and predictive monitoring solutions along with automated issue resolution solutions. The candidate will be joining one of the largest cloud migrations in the Telecoms industry and have the oppurtunity of working on the latest Google technology along with transforming how Vodafone uses its data. The Analytics and Data service goals is to design , build and run Vodafone's next generation technologies . The role will report directly to the head of analytics and data services and will engage with our service operations organization for traditional operations but will also have a small team working in conjunction with the platform and cloud migration teams to radically reduce manual operations activities.
Whilst we talk about ITIL as a foundation we are looking for someone who is forward thinking can come up with innovate ideas and technical approaches for operating a world class service.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
• Stakeholder management for all analytics and data services on Google and transition of new services
• Driving the smooth day to day business operation for all local markets .
• Support audit & controls of the cloud platform usage
• Vision definition and state of the art tech roadmap for automation and monitoring across all analytics and data services
• Ensure End to End service models across departments and service providers
Core competencies, knowledge and experience:
• Strong experience managing complex multi-country cloud operations and leading large organizations/teams
• Stakeholder management at the highest level e.g. C level at Group and Markets level
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Proven ability to work in complex matrix organisation
• Solid leadership skills
Must have technical / professional qualifications:
• Computer science
• Data Warehouse
• Telco industry experience
