Job Description

Improving Patient Services as a Clinical Coding Consultant

At Capita Healthcare Decisions, our clinical coding consultants work with various healthcare organisations to deliver a quality clinical coding service. Working onsite with our clients and remotely, you’ll support coding activities to maintain accuracy and consistency, and feeding back any queries or issues to the relevant hospital lead.

You’ll need to be an experienced and accredited clinical coder (ACC), with knowledge of how to code complex episodes, as well as the motivation and organisational skills to meet tight deadlines. This is a home-based role where you’ll carry out some clinical coding projects remotely, with travel involved to client hospitals across the South East. This is a great opportunity to grow your experience by working for different specialist providers, while helping our clients make smart decisions that will keep healthcare services running smoothly.

What you’ll be doing:

  • undertaking clinical coding at different client sites, and remotely from home
  • providing a professional coding service as an ambassador for Capita Healthcare Decisions
  • Visiting client hospital sites on a regular basis to support coding during each month and at month-end for coding completeness.
  • ensuring completeness of coding, continually striving to maintain timelines, accuracy and consistency of clinical coding when on the client site
  • promoting Capita Healthcare Decisions as an expert and professional coding, audit and consultancy services provider; recognising potential opportunities to obtain further work with clients.

What we’re looking for:

  • an experienced and accredited clinical coder with relevant qualification (ACC)
  • ability and willingness to travel between home and different client sites
  • demonstrable ability and history of meeting tight deadlines with complex projects
  • excellent client relationship skills and the ability to work effectively within different teams
  • knowledge of the Data Security and Protection Toolkit and patient confidentiality requirements
