You will benefit from the well-recognised ICE training programme, as well as peer and mentor support. Wherever possible, we will also aim to involve you with other engineering departments in order for you to learn about the various aspects of work we deliver at the Trust.
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Civil Engineer within our Wales & South West Design and Development team.
The ideal candidate will be comfortable understanding engineering first principles; developing outline designs to allow budgeting and programme of a solution, producing detailed designs and specifications to allow construction and solution implementation.
Additional ability but not essential, is the capability fulfil the role of ‘engineer’ during construction to check compliance with design.
Location & coverage
Our Engineer vacancy will be offered on a remote working basis, with a requirement to attend our main hub spaces as and when required for team working a collaborative meetings. Significant travel throughout the regional waterway network will also be expected to enable site visits and to conduct improvements.
Relevant Hubs: Gloucester.
The regularity & flexibility of travel will be discussed further at interview stage. Regular accessibility to this network is essential.

Our Engineers are important to the success of the Canal & River Trust; the role will involve designing and/or managing the design of repairs on a diverse range of national historical assets. As one of our Civil Engineers you will be responsible for undertaking designs of technical solutions, preparing specifications and briefing documents for our direct labour force (Direct Services), contractors and consultants. It is an extremely varied and interesting role and whether you are delivering innovative solutions, managing the supply chain, or helping to define standards and procedures, you will be working to conserve and enhance our precious waterways for future generations.

Compensation:
