Job Summary:

The Practice Advisor is responsible for working with clinic and project teams to facilitate practice redesign efforts, utilizing innovative thinking to improve process and clinical outcomes, decrease costs, and increase efficiency that results in improved patient care and experience, and provider and health care team satisfaction.  The Practice Advisor is a vital liaison between CMG’s clinic care teams and the Epic EHR Shared Service Team.  With guidance from Practice Facilitators, Practice Advisor works with stakeholders to evaluate, plan, co-design & develop, and implement optimized clinic workflows, improving CMG’s health care services such as scheduling, direct patient care, ancillary services, and revenue cycle.  The Practice Advisor also supports end users by providing onsite and virtual learning associated with workflow implementation efforts, as well as by coaching local Continuous Quality Improvement teams.

Practice Advisor Responsibilities

  • Supports Practice Facilitators to facilitate workflow optimization efforts, in close collaboration with clinic and Health IT teams.
  • Provides organizational support through disseminating experience-related learning and best practices, by way of team updates, written reports/articles, developing reference guides, toolkits and/or presentations.
  • Performs technical review and testing of optimization requests and upgrade functionality to assess for workflow impact.  Provides recommendations to Practice Facilitators on proposed optimizations.
  • Co-leads and facilitates improvement teams toward measurable outcomes with increasing practice independence over time.
  • Assist practices in maximizing use of available health information technology resources in order to accomplish improved patient outcomes and increased efficiency.
  • Provides practice facilitation / quality improvement coaching for designated practices

Qualifications:

Personal Competencies:

  • Strong presentation skills and an ability to communicate in a clear manner, while building rapport and trust with the audience.
  • Comfort co-facilitating multi-disciplinary teams to design and redesign workflows.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and explain sometimes difficult concepts with all organizational levels.
  • Proactive and self-motivated individual with a positive attitude and willingness to learn and take on the work needed to be completed.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and understanding of the need for clear explanations and documentation.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced environment and balance competing priorities with urgent timelines.
  • Ability to work independently and to interact effectively as a team participant.

Experience/Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of clinic operations and performance reporting.
  • Understanding of process improvement and quality improvement (e.g. Lean Six Sigma, Continuous Quality Improvement, Plan-Do-Study-Act).
  • Excellent relationship management skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and to collaborate with teams of individuals in diverse settings.
  • Experience with facilitating small workgroups.
  • Experience in developing training materials.
  • Knowledgeable of clinic back office and front office workflow and processes.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft software applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, SharePoint) and Windows operating system environment.
  • Bachelor’s Degree or related experience desired.
  • Occasional travel between health care facilities and administrative offices within the Phoenix metro area.
