Clinical Pharmacy Department Medical Assistant

We’re looking for a Medical Assistant to join our fast-paced, customer-focused Clinical Pharmacy Team at Cigna Medical Group (CMG). We use an Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) Doppler to screen our members for PAD across the Phoenix area.

Work hours: Typically Monday-Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Some hours may vary based on the location.

What you’ll do:
Assist Clinical Pharmacists and the ABI team with scheduling new patient referrals. Cross-train to perform ABI screenings, at various CMG healthcare centers across the Phoenix metropolitan area. Follows manufacturer recommendations as well as Cigna Policies and Procedures in conducting tests. Able to demonstrate competence in performing all testing as observed by the ABI Nurse Practitioner. Enter lab orders under the supervision of a Clinical Pharmacist. Educate self on the critical elements associated with the target population such as disease states, diagnoses codes, and clinical treatment guidelines. Communicate clearly with all matrix partners. Identify and build effective relationships with a network of staff throughout CMG. Establish and maintain a professional, collaborative, positive relationship with the patient, family, and other clinicians to assist in completion of care plan. Maintain appropriate documentation and tracking as required by Cigna. Assist with mailing patient letters, schedules appointments and assists in recruiting referred patients and filling schedules as needed. Actively monitor incoming calls and respond to voice mail requests in a timely manner. Utilize resources appropriately to provide for the physical, cultural, psychosocial, spiritual, age-specific and educational needs of the patients. Use supplies in a fiscally responsible manner. Responsible for following and promoting department procedures, practices, policies, and guidelines to ensure the safety, security, and well-being of the patients. Other duties as assigned.
This job is for you if you:
Graduated from an approved MA program or graduate of an unapproved program with successful completion of certification examination; graduate of a US Armed Forces medical services program or practicing medical assistant who completed supervision requirements prior to February 2, 2000 (“grandfather clauseâ€). Have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Have excellent customer service skills, and care deeply about providing empathetic, quality care to customers. Have spent time in a healthcare environment. Know your way around a computer. Have BLCS certification.
