Responsibilities

The Chief Technology Officer – Data is a senior leader who is the face of Microsoft India on data and related topics of data platforms, architecture, governance, cloud, security & privacy. (S)he engages with the external ecosystem as an influencer and thought-leader. (S)he works with strategic customers and partners to help shape data and cloud-driven digital transformation initiatives and serves as a subject matter expert within Microsoft on data and related topics.

Primary accountabilities for this role are:

Influencer Engagement and Thought-leadership:

• Be a leading voice and thought-leader on data and cloud driven digital transformation in the market
• Engage with the ecosystem on policy topics like data governance, cloud, unlocking value from data at scale, privacy and security
• Collaborate with industry bodies, government, academia and social impact organization on topics related to data ecosystems, governance, open data

Business Enablement:

• Engage with data and India Stack ecosystems to shape the market in key industry verticals, working with partners and ISVs.
• Elevate government engagements on National Platforms, data, cloud and digital transformation through strategic partnerships
• Work with strategic customers to drive data and compliance-led transformation agenda within/beyond the CIO’s office

Tech Intensity

• Collaborate with Engineering and Microsoft Research to bring the power of ‘One Microsoft’ to shape data ecosystems in the country
• Influence Microsoft product and technology roadmaps related to data through market and customer intelligence as well as policy directions
• Be the subject matter expert for field teams on data-driven digital transformation at scale with the hyperscale cloud

The ideal candidate for this role is someone with a passion for technology and engineering (esp. data and cloud), communication skills to articulate technical topics to disparate sets of stakeholders, and a strategic mindset.

Qualifications

Key experiences, skills, and knowledge:

• 15+ years of experience in technology, with depth in data platforms, architecture and engineering, analytics/ML/AI and cloud technologies, data governance, privacy and security. Strategic mindset with ability to engage with customers at the CxO level on data-driven digital transformation imperatives to drive business/financial/strategic outcomes. Experience in complex and large-scale technology projects. A good understanding of the data, cloud and technology policy environment and how it impacts customers, governments and markets.
• Communication skills (oral and written) towards public speaking and presenting complex company or product strategies in a compelling manner. Written communication skills to effectively articulate ideas and stories that engage and influence
• Growth mindset and curiosity for learning the what, how, when, and why of technology. Deep understanding of data, cloud and technology trends and their impact on markets, business, government and society
• Collaboration and influencing skills to be effective in a fluid, cross-functional, matrix organization. Demonstrated ability to quickly build valuable and trusted relationships, and cultivate sustainable advisory roles
• Focus on results and agility, while aligning multiple internal and external stakeholders
•  

Education:

• Masters or PhD degree in Computer Science/Engineering or similar information technology-related or engineering discipline required
• Additional training or education in Business, Sales, Consulting, or Marketing preferred
• Experience in Business Consulting is preferred
•

• Travel required: 0-75% (travel allowed as per Microsoft safety guidelines)
